This was a simple, solid, smooth superhero series start...
Not much feedback online ATM:
Very nice art and colors:
Series interview had promise:
Things not touched on yet but expected ASAP:
A bit more power - in his personality as he seemed a bit subdued for no given reason. Someone recognizing him. Use of departed Aegis' Aegis. Yo Cho. Olympus Group visit. A call from home(Olympus) - or anyone at least saying THANK YOU for stopping Chaos King. Last Will and Testament awkward changes. Avengers status definition while adventuring in NYC that is more belivable than Black Panther's. Heck, Herc is in Kingpin's backyard so that makes a T'challa sighting inevitable.
-though a seemingly generic crimebusting effort the intro cuts right to the chase and shows some fine quality action to expect. Also, it does have subtext: Where did he get his cloak and weapons? Will the magic shield get a magical on/off switch installed or will he get something better than draping a loose cloth over it? Who are the Warhawks? Could Herc beat Hawkeye in an archery contest some % of the time [after making a fantastic/cool shot like that]? Who are the Warhawks? Any connection to Warhawk form PM/IF? And of course - Pleeease tell me the stone spell is reversable and Herc didnt KILL them?!!!!!!!!! How did they straighten out the statues for the bodybags?
-great title page and Zeus image [Remind me how he is full grown again as seen in that recent Hulk?]
-enjoyed the simple mythology lessons in one panel like this rather than taking over an interlude of a story like in Incredible.
-important to show, right off, he is vulnerable to weapons to gain readers empathy for when he is hit. They better classify how lethal a gunshot is to him so we know if they are just REALLY REALLY nasty bites or if he will be in search of a healing factor, ala Wolverine. [BTW, enjoyed this waaay better the Herc/Wolv #1 that should still get some footnote next time Logan shows up - which is LIKELY LIKELY very soon.
-BEST. OFFERING. EVER.
-interesting Red Hook Temple and mysterious voice motivating him. Shades of this past Wonder Woman reinvention - done more intriguing.
-obvious yet unobtrusive FEAR ITSELF tie in that worked well.
-an interesting supporting cast intro with George Michael's family; NO not THAT Geroge seen on the ceiling above the bed... eep!
-if he wasnt a superhero, bartender could be the perfect backup career choice. Now that Guy Gardner isnt slinging THIS could be the goto place for interaction fun second only to Cheers. And hey, the sleeps-around waitress is ironically named Rhea! Any guess on HER yet?
-though a prominent adversary appearing in the first issue might have been better going with an up-and-coming A-Lister like the new Hobgoblin brought a fanboy smile for the cliche but reasonable cliffhanger -or 'cliff dropping'. Guess we will see just how much thats going to hurt in the morning.
#2 looks good too...
Still missing my brother...
