In Alpha Flight #0.1:

we see Shaman doing quite the multi-tasking with his seeming astral projection 2.0 to possibly embarrass Dr. Strange's skillset:

We see Persuasion lose... her name and go all 'Purple Man' as a more skilled Purple WOman of course:

but we also meet Citadel, some guy with a malleable exo-skeleton grafted on, who embarrasses/pawns Vindicator and Sasquatch:

and Fear Itself seems to have action battles acoming to scrutinize more cool Canadian combatants!

I miss Dan.

A very difficult team to make work, this looks to be the most faithful to the original vision of the team and I wish it the best because of that but Alpha is a very limted concept. No one has ever had a very clear idea of what its mandate is and while John Byrne's will forever be the best take on it even that run skirted around the issue of where it fitted into the typical superteam format, I think of it as like the Defenders , a non-team. A bunch of loosely organised volunteers who while not supported by the country or even wanted by it are nontheless very necessary to its wellbeing. I think that's how the concept worked best.

I agree about the Shaman astral projection, that one breaks all the known rules! But continuity and consistency are slowly fading notions in comics and this is the sort of thing we'll have to get used to.
I just hope they aren't making Purple Girl go the villain route... \(fear\)
