A very difficult team to make work, this looks to be the most faithful to the original vision of the team and I wish it the best because of that but Alpha is a very limted concept. No one has ever had a very clear idea of what its mandate is and while John Byrne's will forever be the best take on it even that run skirted around the issue of where it fitted into the typical superteam format, I think of it as like the Defenders , a non-team. A bunch of loosely organised volunteers who while not supported by the country or even wanted by it are nontheless very necessary to its wellbeing. I think that's how the concept worked best.

I agree about the Shaman astral projection, that one breaks all the known rules! But continuity and consistency are slowly fading notions in comics and this is the sort of thing we'll have to get used to.
I just hope they aren't making Purple Girl go the villain route... \(fear\)

I think you are wrong.
They are Canada's premier(and at the moment only) superhero team. The non-team approach of Byrne was about the time, when they had been fired, not when they got the job back.

They should be the equivalent of the Avengers.
It was simply bad writing for the most part, which brought Alpha Flight down. The concept of the diverse Flight groups and Department H was shockful of potential.

And no, I am not canadian. [lol]
