I had to wait to get the 2nd print of issue one, it sold out fast at my local store. I was happy to have both of the first two issues to read collectively. After completing both issues I am convinced (and maybe I am WAY off) that most of what we are reading is a mental trap of sorts that Scott has been trapped in by Darkside.

It's the only thing that makes sense. No way High Father gets killed and NO one else in the DCU shows up? And the interaction between Barda and Scott seems off as well, to that point, Scott seems to be sensing that too. He seems to think he is losing his mind but as issue one roles into issue two he seems to be question the world around him. Less the man going mad and more the only sane man in a mad mad world. I hope I am close because I hate that fact Oberon is dead, off panel no less.

Read the first issue when it came out and thought it was an intriguing take on a main character that has, maybe, grabbed my attention for a handful of issues of all his appearances. Was optimistic that this mini would be as MUST READ as the Mr.King's Vision mini was by the end. BUT after reading #2...

This was disappointing - mostly becasue, as you say, it didn't make sense. Too many unknown New Genesis and Apokalips variables after reboots after rebirths. Plus, the inherent prerequisite to know the longstanding canon connections between the New Gods to best appreciate the interplay going on. A afterword/handbook bonus page would have helped. If it is, as you speculate, all part of a mind trap then that MIGHT prove to be a... letdown. Especially depending on what ish the reveal is given. For example this week's Spider-man #32 was a misdirect in that vein well done in only ONE issue. The whole escape of a "suicide" death was a provactive, if disturbing, start to all this and for that reason it would be... daring to NOT make that part of "an illusion".

On the plus side the art and story panel layout and brutality of the battleslaughter going on was evocative. And, in itself, the interaction of the 6 charcters was too. Not sure how true to canon Orion and Granny acted towards Scott here, not being fluent with it. Would he be that domineering toward Scott and would she have that kind of softspot for not torturing him equally? Maybe developing reveals - butt https://abload.de/img/buttp3avn.jpg ..err.. but would big beautiful Barda really be THAT (publically) self conscious about her height??!!

Can anyone remind me: When did Darkseid gain the anti-life equation before and what form/danger did it pose? Seem to recall (but can't find in archives here) a Event series where that was the story line.
[EDIT: Okay, found it - one time was in REVELATIONS.]

Good cover.
