Yes, this seems like a story that needed to be told.
They should just close shop when Stan finally passes away. Just put the chairs on the tables, turn off the lights, lock the doors and take down the signs. Let it end, Lord, let it end.
Because this is like watching your grandpa, who was a tower of strength, turn into a confused, doddering old man.
Also, can Amanda die please? That woman is getting entirely too good a treatment. "So you killed my father and then you just gave me, your own child, to SHIELD because you didn't even want to see me? That's awesome, would you like a controlling interest in my company? You know, the one that bears the name of the man who took me in and raised me as his own son?"
Oh, Bendis... there is no end to your suckitude.
I dunno. I've recently been trying to reconnect with my biological mother. It's been difficult because of the emotional issues inherent to being put up for adoption. But since everyone I've ever loved is dead, I've been highly motivated by the possibility of having family again. So I don't find it as implausible as you do that Stark would attempt to reconnect with his biological mother. Hell, at least Stark's mom left him with rich people. My mom left me with my paternal grandparents in the swamp where I got to swat mosquitoes and skin alligators and nutria.
