APRIL FOOLS!!!

Though I don't mind seeing them make their modern debut in the Rebirth Universe. And I mean ALL of them, including deceased members (Bushmaster, Thunderlord, and Impala come to mind).

I'm sure I was there for the Guardians first appearance in that DC Comics Presents issue, though to this day I remember nothing about the content of this particular issue and presume it was that forgettable an outing...
It was illuminating to eventually find out that in fact the group had originally been introduced in The Super Friends comicbook as that made perfect sense of the rather juvenile and simplistic make-up of the team and what their premise was. But I expect for most it will be the Keith Giffen Justice League that they are best remembered from, as damaging as that actually was for credibility of the group.

In retrospect it is remarkable that no one in the last two decades actually reconsidered the potential of The Global Guardians and took a more serious treatment with them, one can easily imagine a writer like Geoff Johns or Grant Morrison might have been the one to reimagine them for his JLA or subsequent projects, and in a sense his 'Top 10' superteam could be seen as an alternate version of the Guardians, but curiously in spite of all the attempted revivals of old or obscure properties The Global Guardians remains one that no one at the DC offices has ever really taken seriously... instead the group is routinely rolled forth in the DCU as cannon fodder.
Very Literal cannon fodder... \(fear\)
