Quote:This was very enjoyable&entertaining...
Agreed. This series is turning out great. I've heard others say this issue was filler because it's all Misty working stuff out in her head, but I extremely disagree. This is the first completely non-filler issue, imo. All of that stuff that's come before, except Paladin, was the filler.
Quote:A history flashback is expected for the main characters especially near the premiere. These flashbacks were refreshingly presented with the curious narrative dialogue and first time flashback moments easily placeable in the timeline. A bit annoying is Misty's changes hairstyle details as often as Jan use to change costumes - Jan's schtick was cute but this 'do thing feels is a lack of consistency pet peeve.
Misty's hairstyle has been fairly constant. Run a Google image search, and a good 95% of the images show the same hair. Besides, a lot of women change their hair weekly or monthly. Misty's odd that she's stuck so long with this. But no reason to change when it's hot.
Quote:Mercedes?! Is this a new reveal? What a waste of a perfectly good real name and copycat feel to Luke Cage's name changes deal.
It's not a new reveal.
Quote:Puppet Master is just a puppet lackey? Whoa, there's a twist! Let the guessing game begin? Is this suggesting, from their dialogue, Misty was nabbed after she came by the Intel info and started her Control persona? Or after? Or maybe the mystery bad guy was feeding her the intel?
That is interesting. Wonder if his "puppet master" is responsible for him still being alive. I really hope they address this.
Quote:A fine segue to fitting story title(and bonus, its not at the end of the issue)! A deliciously evil iconic smile by Masters with his neat, and probably intentional, focus on FEAR(given the upcoming Event and cover blurb). The only thing missing is a regular common supporting cast(for readers to have worried about Misty with) - though that seems reasonable No-Prize explanation of how she has been 'tied' up for all this time.
The VR loop, while repetitive, worked well in the context of the story and readers had fair chance to escape vicariously in Misty's shoes. Yeah, maybe the VR lets-cram-in-icons fight went on too long. The odd moment was the repulsor type blast from her hand. Was this a first time for that? Hopefully it was just a dream option - hard to imagine Stark wouldve given her that feature.
Quote:It wouldve been nice to see Paladin save her - he still might - but it was just as nice a surprise to see her save herself. It was incredibly unlikely that she would have just given PM a bionic love tap - but the No-Prise assumption can be that she was still weak and this would allow for the incredible cliffhanger! A contolled Punisher or the big guy controller himself(which would be an incredible twist)?! Oooooooo!
I think the ending worked perfectly as a cliffhanger, and a "whoa" moment. Paladin can save her next issue, or not (it would be better to see her save herself in a one-on-one match with Puppisher).
Quote:CANNOT WAIT FOR #5!!!!!!
Nor can I.
I am loving this book!! I have been around for all the incarnations of Heroes for Hire and this is my 2nd favorite. Hopefully the amazing writing will continue. LOVE THAT MISTY is the lead. One of the few women characters that I absolutely love. I wanted to be her since I was little (c'mon bionic arm and a lover that is a martial arts master!!). Hope this books lasts a LONG time.
Agree with most of the prior comments. I like the spin of the puppet master and how it is a VR situation. It rocks that she was able to save herself (I rarely see Misty as the damsel in distress, another reason to love her) and not rely on Paladin.
The name thing...eh..whatever. Usually I hate when human beings are named after cars....but I can deal.
My one pet peeve is her hair. I don't care how you draw it, just give her ONE TEXTURE!!! This fro with baby bangs look is killing me!!
