Are you excited with the new artist Leinil Yu?:) 'coz i am, woohoo because one he is so good, i loved New avengers #22 (Luke Cage story) also his works on Superman: Birthright!

And second, he's Filipino! (Forgive me, I'm just so proud someone from my country's drawing my favorite marvel book!)At least, that's kinda near to my old dream. I used to ask Busiek in this board back in high school to add a Filipino avenger. But he said granting my request would mean making every ethnic group represented---and that can't be done/drawn even by George Perez (known for his "crowded" stylish art).

After five years, I brought that up to my comicbook literature class, an elective in our university. My professor said Busiek was just being nice and that my request was refused because Filipinos are not politically powerful in USA. It might not be profitable, compared to other ethinicities like Black Americans or Latinos.

I felt bad with that thought, of course. Even existing Asian Marvel characters are misrepresentations or "over-representations" of Asians. The only Asian Avenger is Mantis, a martial artist / prostitute. Come to think of it, Asian characters are generally martial artists (Shang Chi, Silver samurai (though he has a sword, hehe))Well, Sunfire is a mutant. But then again, when they say Asian, why does it always have to be Chinese or Japanese?

I was amused to see the Philippine Island Luzon on the map of the fictional Asian country Madripoor on that large guide to the X-Men universe. But I thought to myself, if they are going to adapt an existing Asian Island, why create a fictional "Madripoor?" Why not use the real country "Philippines?" (I'm guessing Madripoor is really Poor Madrid, analogous to the country's former Spanish reign and yeah, the fluctuating economy:) This is just a theory, so whoever who wrote that name, I'm sorry if I'm wrong but say sorry if I'm right hehe)

I also had a brief joy to know that Ronin's name is Maya, a Filipino name. But she's Mexican. (I like the character though).

Thanks for reading! \:\)
