I think it's gonna be Luke Cage. He wasn't mentioned in Wizard's "Who Will Be Cap?" article, and he is a fave of golden boy Bendis. Luke has no codename and already has super powers "on par" with Cap's, Plus he's bulletproof, so he wouldn't need the shield. Any thoughts?

In fact there are not too many A-listers who use a shield at all!

That would be very cool, and I would enjoy it enormously. This having been said, I doubt it, for one reason: Luke has never appeared in Brubaker's run of Cap, and I doubt very much that he would introduce a character into his run immediately before making them the lead. Winter Soldier or the Falcon are the most logical picks, as far as I can see, and Falcon is a long shot, because it seems a bit out of character for him.

Actually, he just appeared in issue 26. He also appeared in an image during the newscast on page 7 and 8 of issue 25. > > Winter Soldier or the Falcon are the most logical picks, as far as I can see, and Falcon is a long shot, because it seems a bit out of character for him. How would it be out of character for Sam? He became Cap in Sentinel of Liberty #8-9.

Hawkeye became Cap for all of 2 minutes in Fallen Son and the Punisher designed a costume inspired by Cap and even calls himself Captain America, though Castle may have said it because he was under some type of torture from the latest Hate Mongerer.

Winter Soldier isn't going to let anybody wear the costume... he's going to be out to thwart Tony Stark any way he can. > I think it's gonna be Luke Cage. Personally, I like Clint Barton as Captain America. Maybe Sharon Carter will take over the role ...... nothing says that a female can't be Captain America

Yes, good catch. My mistake. I should have said "He's not really part of the main cast of the book". It was a cameo appearance. A good one, granted, but even so, it doesn't make him a part of the cast. If he had been appearing consistently for the preceding eight months or so, I wouldn't be making this argument. > > > > > Winter Soldier or the Falcon are the most logical picks, as far as I can see, and Falcon is a long shot, because it seems a bit out of character for him. > > How would it be out of character for Sam? He became Cap in Sentinel of Liberty #8-9. Did he? I missed that. Alright, so maybe. I think, though, that he'd be reticent to take it up full-time. I could be wrong, though.

I don't know why, but the idea of Sharon Carter becoming Captain America sounds kinda cool to me.

I just think of any hero in the Marvel U, the hero right now that embodies modern America, would be Luke Cage. Think about it. He's a young father who looks out for his neighborhood who'd been given a second chance at life after a jail sentence. He's tough, smart and is a high level street fighter. He'll have the chance to prove his leadership since becoming leader of the New Avengers. I may be wrong, but if I was in charge, I'd happily make Luke the new Cap. He fits the mold, imo.

Luke's powers are the product of an offshoot of the super soldier serum. He being Captain America makes sense.

What he meant was that Hate Monger can't kill Captain America in the metaphorical sense; Nazi supremacists shooting Mexicans and one vigilante won't kill whatever Cap stood for, or his image. Castle is not, as some might think wearing Cap's mask- the outfit he's wearing has a star on top, not Cap's "A".

Although I agree he'd make a darn fine Cap, I just don't think they've set it up in Bru's book for him to take the mantle. luke Cage is just as idealistic as Cap and he's just as pure of heart (if a little rougher around the edges... a lot rougher, I suppose). He or Clint barton are perfect replacements for the time being in my eyes, but I'm not so sure you'll see it. It just doesn't feel like they're going to take it in that direction.
