Disassembled...House of M...Civil War... ;->

NOW the Skrulls are revealed as having been responsible for all the doom and gloom coming from Marvel lately? Will this justify Stark's actions or Cap's murder? *gah*

I can see readers looking forward for answers, but not older ones who've seen this stuff before.

As a guy who first read a Marvel comic back in 1980, this is like scraping the botton of the barrel. Wish they had used the Dire Wraiths instead. ROM #48 scared the crap outta me as a kid. The good guys got killed and replaced. An entire town burned down. The hero of the book unaware of anything for two issues.

Paranoia is what drives Marvel's "events" lately. In a book like ROM nobody cared, there was more variety to choose from. The classic reprint book seems the only good Avengers comic nowadays, before the madness began.

Busiek and Perez are sorely missed by this fan... \:\-\(

Dire Wraiths would've worked actually. I'd even include Hybrid (the wraith/human offspring) as a high ranking behind the scene puppeteer of sorts. And Rom wouldn't be to far behind.

Although using the Skrulls could actually be a brilliant idea IF they were led by another enigmatic figure so as to not be too cliche. Possibly another shapechanger himself. Someone say like... NEBULON. Now THAT is writing at its best if I may say so myself. ;\-\)

Bendis is at pains to point out that disassembled, House of M and the Civil War are not skrull fabrications. To some extent we know they will be, but Bendis wants us to trust him that they were not just skrull fabrications.

Cap's lunatic behaviour and death are both 'real' and won't be explained by skrulliness, but by some other bizarriness yet to be revealed.

Paranoia has always been a driving force in comic stories.
