I picked up the New Avengers Volume 1 HC book recently.

Read the new Bendis introduction ...... He LIED!!!!!

Matt Murdock was suppose to join the New Avengers as Ronin!!!!!

Reason it was shelved and changed was due to Bendis leaving Daredevil and Brubaker taking over taking the character into a different direction.

Yep. No doubt that DD was always intended to be Ronin, not a gal in a Ronin suit, and then later to be Hawkeye.

Cap's "fate" idea about why the folks who were at the Raft breakout should be the new team of Avengers clearly shows that DD was intended to be Ronin all along. Otherwise, why bother having him at the Raft breakout at all?

And Ghod forbid they just own up, rather than saying the equivalent of "I meant to do that...". Like we wouldn't have understood and accepted a "Oops - not my toy to play with anymore!" explanation?

I think they should have gone with it. I would really have liked to DD on that team. With Echo as Ronin, it just seemed to fall flat. I don't see why it would not have worked with Brubaker's story. DD was in jail for awhile but we don't know exactly when or for how long. When he got out, he spent some time overseas and it would make sense that he would need to have another identity for a bit.

I don't remember Echo ever in a movie, do you?

We were told the new character had been in a movie, but could this have been true of Echo?

There were a whole heap of mutants in Xmen3, one of which could have been identified as Echo.

Also, Electra had a few anonymous villains running around in it and one of those could be Electra.

Lame, I know, but could one of these be what was intended?
