Taskmaster opens the issue with a thorough butt kicking of the majority of the team.
We see Crusader's internal monologue revealing himself to be a skrull.
Thor girl professes adoration for phobia/trauma.
Phobia/trauma is practicing his healing techniques by helping Cloud 9 mentally recover from killing the Hydra agent.
A new MVP clone is created to take on the weapon that Arsenal gave up.
From his inception the new clone once to assert that he IS the original.
Once the weapon is attached the clone downloads all the information regarding MVPs death and begins eliminating everyone associated with it.
Starting with Blitschtag(sp) and yellowjacket.

The clone bursts into the practice room and frags the entire team.

Taskmaster escapes by pointing out that he had nothing to do with MVPs death. The clone agrees after some tense moments and lets him go.
The Taskmaster then helps one the Crusader find his hand (lost in fight).

Thor girl enlists a reticent trauma/phobia's help to confront the, to them, unknown threat to the base. She is horribly - possibly terminally dispatched. She has a touching final word with Trauma/Phobia. Trauma breaks out a can of psychic whoopass but it turns out he is keying on the weapon's fear NOT the MVP clone's. He is soundly defeated.

The clone goes searching for the comatose Gauntlet to finish his vengeance and is mystified when he can't find him.

Our final shot is a fully functional gauntlet morphing into the very thing that Trauma had idnetified as the Arsenal weapon's greatest fear.

I am sure I got some of this wrong as

She is shown on the floor but not confirmed. Though there is nothing left of Gieger or Red 9. Ant-man III is missing and Pym apparently got it.

Rachel looked the most intact of the new recruits besides Crusader. That poor Geldoff kid hit the wall so hard, the front half of his body was reduced to pink splatter and gore.

Actually if one would read the latest incantation of Marvel Team-Up you'd already know Crusader was a skrull. Read the Freedom Ring storyline. Also the ring itself is a pretty powerful weapon since it can warp reality in a limited area. Crusader was uninteresting in MTU compared to Freedom Ring...but I'm glad no one has forgotten him considering the whole Secret Invasion thing.

Wow,you guys were reading a totally different book than I was.

Go back and look again...

Red nine is shown completely intact, face down on the bottom left of the fifth panel of the first page after the recap page, right where the story picks up later. So is Diamondback, also face down, Proton is face up next to her, Crusader is grasping his handless arm, Melee is floored, hunched over behind some flaming wreckage, she's on her side with her back turned to the 'camera,' and the bottom half of a destroyed recruit is no doubt Dragon Lord, he is wearing Dragon Lord's clothes, and the beginning of issue 8 had Hank walking through his blood by his arm. While Geiger isn't depicted, it is in the same manner as Ant-Man, with no indication she was destroyed, she could easily have been knocked out. The only confirmed death of a new recruit is Dragon Lord. The others may well be incapacitated and not dead.

Good analysis.

Another thing I'd note is that I seriously doubt Yellowjacket is dead. Last issue, Stature asks him (pleads, really) about whether it's possible Scott Lang survived a massive explosion by shrinking down to micro-size. Pym tels her it's not, although this is how he survived his death in... what? Issue 2? 3? If the story is going where I suspect, we may learn that the Scott Lang Ant-Man survived "Avengers Disassembled."

The other possibility - and I actually kind of like this one - is that it wasn't Henry Pym who was killed in this issue, but a Skrull duplicate.

We'll have to wait an issue or two to find out how many characters died in this issue. I'm hoping that most of them made it; megadeath in comics isn't something I enjoy.

'course, I don't give good odds to Hardball and Kimodo...
