Avengers Academy #31

Don't necessarily agree with the mutants misinterpretation of 'protective services' and the intention with which it was insisted upon for them during this crisis situation. Tigra's quick thinking for a fake fight to save face was a clever idea but also a little far fetched given the high calibre organization - plus, it was a bit too repetitive of the Runaways fight in the preceeding arc. The poser cover was a missed opp for anything with more context - a funny death scene for Hercules for example. Other than that this issue had lotsa good. Fun charcterizations and dialogue once again.

The notable players:
Shaw: So, he was just trying to be nice. Hmm. Well. Okay, then. Carry on. Uhm. You're free to go.
Hazmat: Captain Chesthair. Ha! Girl, you got a knack. Codename X-23 now! BTW, do you know what you're doing by radiating Shaw like that?!
Reptil: What's a prehistoric anaconda called?
Surge vs Striker: Seriously, couldn't they at least give us that winner?
Cuckoos: Ugh. Nitpick the Psychics Time. First of all they ARE Emma so if anyone could try harder to get thru. Secondly, how convenient to have barriers that prevent psi-probing only when it helps the foe! Why can't Emma could set up blocks on her teammates for their protection - especially Logan who is mind-controlled every other day. Later when the ground security is off they are not good enough to speed up AvsX 'cuz they can't teep anyone else - where Psylocke is easily teeping cross continent during the frackas.
Laura: Good arguments - though it doesn't mean she automatically should win that debate about accepting responsibility for their own decisions because it should include accepting consequences of fight Cap and Co.
Finesse: She's still got game.
Tigra: She had tough calls to make. Don't necessarily agree with her decisions but she was still enjoyable to read making them here. "SO, DON'T KILL ME, OKAY?"
Herc: He stole the show! How does he not keep his own series going?! Hilarious hamming here!
Sentinel Boy: Still not liking his recyclable robot being allowed. Someone should get rid of it (extremely hard to imagine Emma could do it though).
Fishboy: Well, he had a chance to make an impression but he didn't take the bait. Say hello to forgotten alternate-Nita from us.
Dust: Small moment but seems a much better friend for Laura than Jubirella.
Loa: Didn't know she was that persuasive to convince Avengers Academy to go to the beach and take their Last Day on Earth off.
