bu now almost every hero ever created was an avenger
who was never an avenger but should be one?

me, i would like to see IKARIS from the eternals in the team, he is a VERY powerful charecters with cool costume and can
add the (sort of) god factor to the team.

Silver surfer and fire lord - for the cosmic element

ghost rider - for a supernatural element

the Invisible woman - very powerful and strong woman , it the thing can be on 2 teams so can she
(i know, she was an avengers for 3 issues but she can be back)

who else?

Don't you go badmouthing that issue. That was my first marvel comic ever.

Really??? That was my first Avengers issue too!

The Marvel machine got me good ... I started with Iron Man # 225, the start of Armor Wars. Since he was in WCA, I picked up # 37, where the team split up because of Hawkeye & Mockingbird's argument over letting an enemy die. I was hooked!

I could go on, but I think this could make a great new thread, actually!

For years I hoped that Silver Surfer would become an Avenger. But now? Come on, he is so powerful and than hanging around in the Mansion and talking? Defeated as all the other Avengers by the Hood? Think the Surfer is too powerful to be an Avenger.

Don´t like to see too much X-Men as Avengers.

What happened to the animal-like creature who was with Hawkeye in some limited?

What about Woodgod? And of course my favorite - Unus the Untouchable!!!!!

I've actually thought about this recently, after re-reading a few old Marvel Super Heroes modules for the role-playing game. The plot of one had EVERY Avenger disappear from Earth for a game between the Grandmaster and Loki, leaving a few also-rans and second-tier guys left to be the Avengers... and since then, most of those guys have become Avengers! So, I debated how to do that now, and came up with this lot as the guys I'd recruit to be Avengers if everyone that ever has been has vanished:

Red She-Hulk - Betty's a pretty obvious choice, in that she's powerful, and is connected to several Avengers.

Rescue - Pepper Potts is heroic enough to help out, and adds the Stark connection.

Black Panther - Not T'challa, but his female relative that currently rules Wakanda. She's smart, skilled, and has a name with Avengers-level cachet.

Firelord - Friendly with several Avengers, insanely powerful, and yet mentally stable, Firelord's the ideal choice to join the Avengers.

The Shroud - One of those chosen by the module, the reasoning is still strong. He's smart, a natural leader, and competant.

Beta Ray Bill - Thor-level power, has worked with the Avengers on three prior occasions and several members individually, and a genuinely great guy. Bill's a #1 draft pick.

Battlestar - He's a highly skilled, mentally stable, Captain America style hero.

Gravity - Excellent heroic ideals, competent, powerful, and a natural leader.

I considered Toro and Johnny Storm, both of which lost out to Firelord in my final consideration, but would make good Avengers.

And by the way, Reed was an Avenger, Sue was an Avenger, Thing was and is an Avenger, but Johnny Storm???????

I am absolutely SHOCKED that you remembered Rover, Hawkeye's wolfman sidekick, existed. He's currently living in the South American jungles. I wish him well. \:\)

The Surfer's general pacifistic nature and hatred of being stuck on Earth are much bigger barriers to his Avengers membership than his power level. He's not that much more powerful than Thor, and he's clearly got a history of working as an Avenger.

I learned a long time ago, you don't badmouth any story or character because it will be someone's favorite. I was just pointing out that Sue HAD been a member of the Avengers.

The division between the Avengers and X-Men, especially among fans, really pisses me off to no end.

There are many X-Men that I'd like to see as Avengers:
- Storm (glad she finally got in, but am not pleased with how she was handled-- I want to see more)
- Nightcrawler
- Iceman
- Shadowcat
- Cannonball
- Archangel

I agree for Iceman and Angel (Archangel has the more dark and sinister tone that I don't think belongs in the Avengers.) based on their Defenders and Champions experience. Nightcrawler classic is good, but the darker current version isn't Avengers material. Cannonball's acceptance of Cable's philosophy disqualifies him as an Avenger to me, but Kitty Pryde is a good pick. Essentially, any X-Man prior to Gambit would be fine for me as an Avenger temporarily at least, but the ones you listed minus Cannonball strike me as the kind that could stick around for a while.

I don't really differentiate between Archangel and Angel. Post-Horseman, it's all Archangel to me, and Warren wasn't that dark... until the X-Force crap.

Also, I don't think Cannonball ever really accepted Cable's philosophy completely. But I don't think Cable's philosophy disqualifies anyone from being an Avenger, either. The Avengers already include far worse than that.

I say bring back Jean Grey and the Avengers and X-Men can do an exchange. The Avengers get jean Grey and the X-Men get the Scarlet Witch.

Century was kind of an honorary during The Crossing, but was never officially a member. He's due, he provides a unique power set for the team, a unique voice, and he doesn't look like a professional clothes model.

I'd love to see Titania and/or the new Trick Shot try to join up, and say and do all the right things, but secretly they are just there to try and show up their rivals (She-Hulk & Hawkeye respectively). I'd like for them to succeed for a little while, too.

Thunderball has noticed in the past that the good guys always seem to win, and that maybe it's because they know how to play nice together. Maybe he's ready to give it a shot, plus it would stir up some things with the rather stagnant Wrecking Crew

Kuroko was introduced as a lackey to Dr. Demonicus, but she had a concience. She could come around.

Mathemanic from Psionex would be a great addition.

Pretty Persuasions from Psionex would be fun to see how the highly visible (and publicity friendly) Avengers deal with her power set.

I wouldn't mind seeing Cyclops realize he is turning into Magneto, and that he needs some time away from the X world to regain some perspective. Let join the Avengers and wrestle with NOT being in control.

Battlestar has DEFINIETELY earned a spot by now. Same as Nighthawk.

- Silver Surfer

- Snowbird

I´m glad Iron Fist finally joined in!

And also loved to see Gilgamesh back!
He´s an amazing character with outstanding undergrounds!
He´s as strong as Hercules, powerful as Thor, and he´s on Earth fighting monsters much long before most of the villains were born!
Writers seem to forget that! The same goes with Thor and Herc!
Even if Hulk were stronger, he´s not a warrior, he´s a scientist!
He didn´t know how to fight, he´s just strong!

You can´t compare his fighting skills with someone that has been practicing this for thousand years!
