I think it would be unlikely in most of their cases, primarily because there is a general lack of potential and interest in those characters, but with the kind of ensamble cast we currently see in Avengers, who knows?

Black Knight is mainly seen as a British based hero now (there are rumours he may be getting a solo series)

Starfox is unlikely to ever get over his 'rapey' history.

I think Sersi, Quasar and Crystal have pretty cool power-sets, however they are generally seen as heroes somewhere other than in the Avengers (I expect Crystal to get a bump with the Inhumans enjoying a bit more exposure at the moment).

Isnt Moondragon dead? Sure I recall her dying in Abnetts Guardians of the Galaxy. Either way, shes seen more as a cosmic hero than an Avenger now.

Mantis and Hellcat I never really rated, neither enjoyed much pedigree as Avengers and both have had very little exposure elsewhere, so I dont expect that to change.

I feel like Black Knight is pretty much beyond use. The character was a very good Avenger then changed completely and was once again a very good but different avenger. He has changed again, appeared as an also ran avenger. I don't see Dane surviving another change to become a good avenger again. This century, a guy with a sword just doesn't make sense - and that was what worked before. The sword, shield horse thing is just silly.

Then there is Starfox. I was campaigning a long time ago that he could be the best avenger. He could be cooler than Xman, but sort of similar, and have an understated angelic appeal. Since then, the bendis spider woman has shown the pleasure centre power potential. I guess Starfox isn't different enough for a comeback. I am so mad about the hideous decision to make him seem like he forced his attentions on anyone, even if it was taken back very quickly and happened in someone's mind or something. Avengers 250 dealt with that, so there was no need to ever bring it up again.

Mantis... Ah... a few months ago I would have said she should never appear in another book. She is just too dull, her origins read a bit racist (check out the issues dealing with her homeland) and the whole ghost plant husband thing... Really? And yet bendis writes her for two pages and I fall in love with her. I want her to have a series now based on just one appearance. Bendis does that to me sometimes.

Thanks whoever you are for giving me the chance to express all three of these long held thoughts in answer to one post.

Quasar is most likely, I think. Anything is possible.

However...

Avengers tends to be NY-centric. Unless Black Knight and Crystal decide to move back, there's not much chance.

Mantis, Hellcat, Moondragon, and Starfox never really fit.

Still though, Hellcat lives in New York.

Grendel hates...nothing about the new CA:TWS movie!

Sersi and Quasar have the same problem. Both, if using their power set intelligently, wouldn't require any help from any other Avenger to solve any super villain threats by themselves. So, no they will not likely be full timers any time soon.

Mantis and Moondragon (and to a lesser degree, Hellcat and Starfox)have the same drawback in that the Avengers tend to rely on the lack of a psiot for many of their story beats. Not necessarily a major plot point, but with a telepath an awful lot of the divided team drama would simply disappear. So, no full time job at Avengers Tower any time soon.

Black Night: Hmmm...a tech savvy knight with a flying horse and an enchanted blade that carries a horrible curse that he struggles with. A dangling storyline from last decade (Blood Wraith, anyone?)and history with the team going back to the sixties/seventies. Nah, who would ever be able to come up with any uses for him?

Crystal: Flip a coin. I really enjoyed the whole "people's princess" angle while she was married to Ronan, but I surmise that the upcoming theatrical use of Ronan required that to go away. No reason to preclude her or use her at this point, but she is still the front runner for membership in my opinion.

Hellcat: The only barrier I see is that Mighty is pushing a similar character in White Tiger, and if there was a need for a second Avenger with the same power set, I expect they would use Tigra. Which I would be okay with, especially if Cho or Land draw her.

Starfox: Biggest issue for me is that he is Thanos' brother. If Thanos is to be considered an apex evil Death worshiping threat, why are Mentor and Eros still alive? If Thanos is an anti-hero, why isn't Eros trying to find/redeem him? Plus, I'm still holding out hope for Starfox to get some cosmic exposure. He was friends with Captain Mar-vell, Silver Surfer and Quasar after all.

My thoughts anyway. Not likely salient since I am quitting coffee this week, but there they are.

At best, Patsy Walker is just a Janet knockoff. Also, to be honest, I think her relationship with Daimon hurt her as a character too much. She's much more suited for teams like Defenders.

Sersi,Quasar

People always say that those 2 are too powerful, but look whats on Adj. Avengers now. If I had to chose thought I would go with Sersi.

Black Knight
Love to see Dane back, but I figure he is too busy overseas,

Crystal

Highly Doubt it. No real connection with Pietro any more and even Luna cut him off.

Mantis

With her future seeing abilities now I figure she will be out side the Earth making cameos on the Silver Surfer or her last team GotG.

Hellcat
Yeah I can see her come back. She is already a supporting character in the She Hulk.

Moondragon
Not any time soon I figure.

Starfox
Not unless they fix those awful charges he got.

Century: Your Alien Hero

> Hellcat
> Moondragon

Let's be honest, they were both only on the team for about five minutes, and spent more time with the Defenders (and the Guardians of the Galaxy, in Moondragon's case). H*llcat doesn't do anything that 20 more popular Avengers can do, and we all know what Moondragon did to Thor. As such, they're unlikely to be on many writers' lists for people to bring back.

> Starfox

I think how we perceive Starfox depends on how old we were when we first saw him? If we were first introduced to him in the 1970s or 1980s, and were still young ourselves, we may well think of him as harmless fun. If we discovered him later, or were older ourselves, we're more likely to think of him as having ginger Quicksilver-hair and creepy seduction powers we don't want to be reading about (see also; Spider-Woman 1's pheromone power, Longshot and Gambit's 'charm' powers), and then that She-Hulk storyline around the time of Civil War went and actually said it. As such, I'd be surprised to ever see him back in the Avengers in a big way again. I'm kind of surprised no Big Thanos Story ever went and had Thanos kill his brother.

> Mantis
> Quasar

Both are possible, but they've moved from the Avengers to the cosmic books, and are more likely to show up there. If Hickman can be doing Big Epic-Scale Cosmic Avengers stories with a massive team, and yet not reach into the team's roster and find these guys, there may not be that much hope for them to come back.

> Sersi
> Black Knight
> Crystal

Now here are the real tragedies, all of them put in a big long stint on the team, more than one in Dane's case, and were almost there in terms of making it, if not as part of the 'core cast', then at least being as well-established an Avenger, and as hard to permanently get rid of, as 2nd/3rd-tier Avengers like of Tigra/Wonder Man/Hercules who keep on coming back because Marvel keeps hiring writers who love them. But what happened instead? Dane and Sersi's story was brought to an end in 1994, and although the came back to the Marvel Universe about 3 years later, they never really came back to the Avengers for more than the occasional guest-appearance. Dane in particular really was the face of the early 1990s team, and it feels like he never came back maybe because of the backlash against that era?

As for Crystal, she stuck around right to the end of vol.1, had powers that were both different and useful, and was an important part of the family group within the team, so what happened? The book relaunched twice, the characters fell into the hands of people who didn't think she should be an Avenger, and that her family group should all fall apart, and so she never came back, and instead suffered years and years of bad writing.

When did Mantis actually JOIN the Avengers? I read the Celestial Madonna story recently and it seemed like Mantis was treated as a hanger on...Wanda even going so far to throw it in her face that Mantis was not an actual member.

To me it seems like when Mantis was actively adventuring with the Avengers she was not an Avenger but years later when she was not adventuring with them she gets referenced as an Avenger. Weird.
