This was alright. It was interesting how they tweaked Blue Marvel's being already tweaked into the Marvel sliding timeline scale. Hopefully some AMB feedback will help me to processss all Adam's newly revealed family events/years and their related impact added to MU canon.
Including:
1970 Blue Marvel 'is gone' but Adam's love for his wife and new son grows
1972 Deathwalkers
1983 Technocracy
1991 Discovery of longevity side-effects.
1993 Atomic Skeletons
1997 Doktor Skorpion
1999 Millennium Bug... HA!
At some point:
Dr.Brashear discovers the NEUTRAL ZONE and then later NEUTRONIUM. It was either before or after (or because of this that he met Uatu. What relative years to YOU place these 3 discoveries at?
And then:
2000 to 2001-ish The (concerned) implication that FF#50 (Galactus' arrival 1966) has been chosen as the BEGINNING OF THE AGE OF MARVELS and not FF#1 (FF space launch 1961)! Thus, moving the MU616 to T-minus-14yrs. old (again) - not to mention deaging Franklin but not so much other known superkids. However, it's pooosssible this hypertext just poorly placed on that page where Adam & Kev discover the ruins of Rama Tut long after FF#19 (years after 1963). This date can also be considered the origin date of Doctor Positron (aka Max). Apparently after this Event Adam must have clandestinely re-adopted his Blue Marvel identity. Feel free to correct any of this chronological speculation.
The story then cuts back to the present for a very exciting and taumatic battle against Giant Kevin. Focusing and using Jen and Mon was done fun and nicely returned the feeling of this being a team book. The result make for interesting and evocative character development of Adam & Max as their relationship is slipping away.
The Ronin prologue and epilogue did not play out as nicely. His cover unmasking was not as much a grabber image on second thought because of the misleading/poor choice of witnesses who in fact were not even in the book. Also, considering the SPOILER reveal, that has more or less been anticipated/hinted online for near 8 months now, lost much of it's impact. Technically it wasn't even a 616 reveal because the NINJA WERE-SNAKES already knew so devoting 5 pages to this felt a bit indulgent. Plus, apparently tying the early timeline of this 'Ronin' so tightly to lycanthropes instead of vampires and in this issue of 'retcons' coincidentally came across more disorienting than intriguing. Still have high hopes for this plotline, though, and a nod to his connection to Pete Wisdom would be neat bonus.

I don't think any of it has much, if any, impact, because by current standards, Fantastic Four #1 happened in 2000 (and maybe later). Deathwalkers are, of course, the villains being setup in this series.

"Beginning" wasn't marking a specific point in time, just generally. FF #50 is just as "beginning of the Age of Marvels" as #1.

Agreed.

It worked fine to me.

Yeah, but still an effective revealing: "Say my name."

Eh, Buffy the Vampire Slayer fought demons and other stuff, too, so Blade can, as well.

Thought the reveal of Ronin's id, was the worst kept secret, since we all knew who he was several months ago. Always thought the MU was about 12+ years. Avengers 1-20 being the first year, 20-60 the second year and 61-114/19 the third year .
I'm interested to see Avengers 1972 the next few issues and see how it affects the book afterwards.
IMOP Blade hasn't officially joined yet, but I think that will be made official in next few months.
I read the team is adding pr readmitting another member in the fall. I wonder if Luke will call Thing and will he bring Johnny along this time?

While I'm not a fan of the FF as Avengers, it really bugs me that all the iconic members of the FF are in except the Human Torch. Heck, just about all the fill-in members of the FF are Avengers too.
Personally, I've always felt that Johnny was the only member of FF not worthy of being an Avenger. But I'd be just as happy if he were still dead. Unless they're going to continue having Sue be his surrogate mommy or getting in immature fights with Ben, he really doesn't have much use.

I agree that Johnny is pretty much a waste of space and has been for a long, long time. Writers and editors seemed to have given up any attempt to make him grow up and I desperately miss those good ole' days when John Byrne actually matured him somewhat. Even Mark Waid's run suffered because Johnny seemed more immature than ever.
Your criticism of Blade fighting something other than vampires reminds me of the Venture Brothers' character Jefferson Twilight, who only fights "blaculas" (Hey, it's what they call 'em on the show.).
Well, "criticism" not that he should'nt fight werefolk, too,but moreso how Marvel, here, is poorly presenting his particular/sudden long-lived connection/rivalry against them.
Never heard of Jefferson Twilight but did see Venture Brothers' Dr. Strange doppleganger (and his daughter) introduction. They presented and parodied the mage perfectly. But only had a chance to see a half dozen episodes of that series. They were all funny. So, you piqued my curiousity and Youtube delivered a sneak peek of JT. The clip looks funny. Thanks for the introduction! OT: Is that show cancelled?
I miss Dad and Dan.

As Jefferson himself explained
"I hunt blaculas! Man, I specialize in hunting black vampires, I don’t know what the P.C. name for that is!"
To my knowledge the series is still going on. It just takes a while for the seasons to come out; they've had five seasons from 2003 to now.
It's a great show, poking fun at the old Johnny Quest cartoon series. But they'll poke fun at anyone. They had a New York story where Doc Venture met a guy with spider powers, who shot webbing out his...
You know what? I'm not going to discuss that episode here.

The show is not cancelled. It just takes the creators a looooong time to churn out a season.
Season 4 ended in November 2010 and Season 5 started June 2013. There were a couple Venture Bros specials in between that gap but still it's a long gap between seasons.
The show is supposed to have a special this year and be back for season 6 in January 2015.
The wait time is horrible but the show is just too damn good to give up on IMO.
Reverend Meteor (Venture Bros is hands down my favorite cartoon ever)

The show has a lot of cool pastiches of Marvel characters
Dr. Orpheus - Dr. Strange
The Impossibles - The Fantastic Four
Baron Underbeiht - Dr. Doom
Dr. Entmann - Antman
Jefferson Twilight - Blade
The Grand Galactic Inquisitor - The Recorder/The Watcher

I don't have any particular love for the character. But it doesn't make sense to me in a scenario where the Avengers were facing some huge threat and called in Reed, Sue, and Ben that those guys would just leave Johnny at home.
But it's not really even that. It's more of an OCD sort of thing about having *almost* the full set of FF characters.
I feel the same way about the Defenders. He have Dr Strange, Namor, the Hulk, Valkyrie, the Beast, and Hellcat. But no Gargoyle or Silver Surfer.
For the New Warriors, we've got Nova, Justice, Firestar, Rage, and Speedball, plus Turbo if you count Academy students. But no Namorita or Night Thrasher, who surely won't be dead forever.
You could throw in Darkhawk too, but he has only been a minor member of both the Avengers and the New Warriors.
