When was the last time the original 'Mr Smith', Henry Gyrich, was seen or referenced in a Marvel book?
Sitting through the Captain America films and seeing the likes of Jasper Sitwell referenced I found myself missing old Gyrich, the Avengers' wicked authority figure and meddler. Anyone share a similar nostalgia...? \(fear\)

The last place I'm aware of him appearing was toward the end of Brubaker's Captain America run (where he was running the new Scourge program).

I really liked his role in Geoff John's Avengers - where he really was trying to do the right thing but no one trusted him.

He should be around, spreading his villainy across the universe.

Villainy?

I mean sure he's a jerk...but I wouldn't call him a villain. Sometimes I think he's right.

He had a relatively villainous role in the 90's Xmen cartoon. It was like the first time seeing the character for any 80's baby.

Long-time X-Fan, and he's supported more anti-mutant programs than most. He even supported OZT until it targeted him. I don't even consider Val Cooper one of the good guys, but she's better than him.

I wouldn't say he's any worse than say Ted Cruz or Donald Trump.

And personally I'm for putting the mutants in concentration camps. They're dangerous.

They got death camps?

And were you to start implementing that, you'd be a villain. It is an utterly immoral thing to put people in prison for what they could do. You could kill people today. Let's lock you up, as well.

Mutants are no more dangerous than the eleventy thousand other superpower freaks running around... and the the millions of hidden races... and the people with supertech... and magicians... etc. etc.

Ben Grimm and Johnny Storm are every bit as dangerous as Jean Grey.
