The Life Of Captain Marvel (2018) #1 (of 5)
There were some halfway decent elements BUT: No chronological placement. No clear idea why this is hyped as "THE DEFINITIVE ORIGIN OF CAPTAIN MARVEL!" (yet). Maybe it was that Mar-Vell HANDED her, her powers? No footnotes or objectives with Moonstone or Tanalth (making it Revolving Door trope and tripe). No way for a hero like her to treat your family - snubbing them for YEARS. No big deal if her father was having an affair, considering her history/line-of-work, to get that traumatized by it. No pleasure in accepting such easypeasy accelerated growth for new characters to show up. No mention of: AFSS position and responsibilities, her brainwipe issues, operating logistics with (current version) Tony's A.I. operating, point about her CWII animosity with Tony at all, mention of her boyfriend's Rhodey's resurrection... ...No, thanks. What say YOU: Here we GO again! ![]() ![]() What was Easter Egg significance of MC5 tshirt? ![]() ![]() ![]() page 8 https://www.comicboards.com/php/show.php?rpy=ironman-2018071917214538 SOURCE OF PREVIEW: https://comicstore.marvel.com/The-Life-Of-Captain-Marvel-2018-1-of-5/digital-comic/48601 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Support Cancer Research and Alzheimer Research.

Did Carol forget she was older than her brother Joe Danvers (and other brother Steve Danvers) or did the birth order get Secret Wars retconned? (Ms. Marvel volume 2 implies Steve is older than Carol and that Carol joined the air force after Steve was killed and she turned 18. But I'm pretty sure that's not true and that Carol was the eldest sibling in Ms. Marvel volume 1 issue #19)

No way for a hero like her to treat your family - snubbing them for YEARS. We've known about it before, and it's not entirely her fault. Remember, after Rogue, she had no emotional connection to her memories for years. In fact, this is about the first inkling of any emotional connection. Quote: No big deal if her father was having an affair, considering her history/line-of-work, to get that traumatized by it.It's always a huge deal when it's your own father. Quote: ...No, thanks. Yeah. She goes away from the new Avengers team and the AFSS for 9 months?! How's that going to be explained? Some problems, but it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be. City of Heroes is BACK!

It is sort of easy to infer Carol was the oldest from Ms. Marvel #19, but not necessarily. She was 17 when we see that argument between her and her dad. When he says only Steve will go to college, it really doesn't have any bearing on their relative ages. City of Heroes is BACK!

When he says only Steve will go to college, it really doesn't have any bearing on their relative ages.To me Carol's clearly shown to be taller. But two situations are possible. 1. Steve is younger than Carol. Steve was close in age to Carol. Steve was still in High School. Their father wanted Steve to go to college after high school. When he got old enough he joined the military instead. 2. Steve is older than Carol and was already 18 or 19 (if Carol is close to 18 an older brother would presumably be closer to 19). Steve still lived at home. He had graduated high school but hadn't started college yet. He joined the military before Carol (not alluded to in the issue). Option one just makes more sense and seems neater. Reverend Meteor (so with Carol and Steve out of the way did Joe Jr. get the money for college or did his parents just think he was too dim for college) ![]()

Quote: > Some problems, but it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be.Kinda curious, now, how long Ms.Thompson can keep this going and if the cancellation of A-Force and sales numbers of Secret Wars "Captain Marvel and the Carol Corps" (not w/list below) should be indicators. It doesn't really matter. This is a 5-issue miniseries. City of Heroes is BACK!

But the drop off is more severe yes? Not sure how the "Marvel ships certain books that are not ordered" to stores as well adds or not to these numbers as well.

Quote: But the drop off is more severe yes?Not so much, especially when you consider the industry as a whole is in a slump. Her series tend to plateau at around 20k, give or take. But that just means more restarting at #1. City of Heroes is BACK!

With a character like Carol, they can sell more issues with 5 than with 1. City of Heroes is BACK!
