What are considered to be the best Joker stories? I know alot of people say Batman #251, Detective #475,476, and The Killing Joke. Are there any others that are highly regarded? I thought the recent Joker appearance in Detective #826 was one of the best Joker stories in years, even though it didn't involve Batman.

I thought the recent Joker appearance in Detective #826 was one of the best Joker stories in years, even though it didn't involve Batman. I've always liked Batman 321, "Dreadful Birthday Dear Joker" Batman 450 and 451 has the Joker trying to "get the joke" again whilst recovering from the injuries he got in "A Death in the Family" (Which I don't recommend) Detective 526 - Killer Croc was originally introduced as a smart and cunning crimelord who used the Joker as a sort of second in command, whilst knowing full well he'd try and trip him up. The Joker in fine form, more cameoing villains than you shake a stick at, the Batfamily meeting uniting to stop them, Jason Todd #1 in his first prot-Robin appearance and Don Newton on art. Detective 569 and 570. Mike W Barr and Alan Davis give us a classic Silver Age style Joker story. A few others..

Very cool to see other's digging those as well. I remember that Wolfman/Breyfogle run really well, as they did the Joker, the Riddler, and then Scarecrow right in a row, and introduced the new Robin. Very fond memories there, and what hooked me on Batman ever since. I was probably 12 when those came out, and loved the heck out of them, and read them over and over. Jake

I agree...I had a subscription to Batman back then. I loved that run. THe best part about the Joker in 450 and 451 is that you saw him act as though it was his responsibility to act the way he does, that he had to do it...and seeing someone else try and take his place...
