when this first came out I saw that morrison was back on the book (I started picking it up again when he and kubert came back on and subsequently stopped when I thought their run 'ended' prematurely)..I picked it up and thumbed through it...I put it down seing that it was in prose....

well, I decided to give it a shot and I finally picked it up last night..this is a GREAT issue...at first, making my way through Morrison's intricate style and useage of language had me worried that I wasted about $3 on the book..but as I continued to read it I got more and more absorbed..the art is used sparingly but to great effect..very moody and sometimes quite disturbing..then again, that sums up the Joker as well as the setting (arkham) pretty damned succinctly, so it fit perfectly...

in the end, this is a great joker story...some may be turned off by how the story was presented, but don't let that turn you off from this book!

I really didn't like morrison's work on the x-men several years back...I thought he was doing things just as a means of shocking the audience and changing the status quo..I do think he's well suited for batman..a dark moody character that comes from an even darker and moodier city which is only trumped by how disturbed the rogue's gallery is. Much looking forward to the next issue.
