... Linda Page was never in the Batman comics. In fact, aside from Batman, Robin and Alfred, the 1943 serial didn't use any characters from the comics. Serials were pretty bad about that -- back then, comics publishers didn't take much care when licensing their characters to movies.

Since Captain America is in the news these days, let's look at his serial because it's the best example of this. The serial filmmakers gave Cap a .38 revolver instead of a shield, and instead him being Private Steve Rogers of the U.S. Army, he was Grant Gardner, district attorney of an unnamed American city. By comparison, Batman got off easy.

Linda was INDEED in the Batman comics of the 1940's. She was Bruce Wayne's fiance before Vicki Vale came onto the scene.

Linda was written out and left Bruce Wayne, I think, because she felt he'd never do anything useful with his life. She ended up marrying a prince in the DCU (fictional country).

I THINK she was last seen, alive and well, in a 1970's issue of World's Finest (one of the Dollar Comics, IIRC).

Now, PLEASE stop bringing up obscure characters, everyone! We don't want to give the current "creators" any more cannon fodder, do we?

:D

You're thinking of Julie Madison, aren't you? She got the whole Princess Grace retcon, I know, and was Bruce's fiancee in the early Batman tales. She got a different send-off in the post-CRISIS retelling we just saw in Batman vs. The Mad Monk.

He is thinking of Julie Madison. Bruce Wayne did indeed date Linda Page though. When the U.S. entered the War in 1941 she became a nurse.

The only version of LInda Page whose fate we learned was the Earth-2 version, who was confirmed in Brave and the Bold #197 to have eventually married someone else after leaving Bruce over his playboy indolence.
