I assume this might be more of an "emeritus" position, but one of the creative forces behind Robin and the Joker deserves all the respect DC can offer him.

Yeah. I mean what is he actually going to do? The knowledge he has of Batman isn't very relevant to the modern portrayal. Even if they want to "change" Batman, they aren't going to go back to the some of the silly stuff from the 40a and 50s.

Its a pure respect thing I guess. P.R. too.

I really don't want to be a negetive nilly here because, on one hand, I agree that it's a respect thing, but seeing as how I also agree with Spiffy's assessment...it's possible they wanted to show some respect and give him an "emeritus" creative consultant position so that they don't have a rehash in the courts over Joker & Robin as they do now with the Siegels and the concept of Superboy. Just a thought.

I don't really see that as happening, because I thought Bob Kane OWNED everything about Batman, according to those articles on http://www.dialbforblog.com

AFAIK Kane didn't own anything about Batman, he simply gets sole creator credit (unfairly, but that's life alas)
