Subj: quote from Grant Morrison about the ending to Batman RIP

So this was in the paper on Tuesday and it's got me thinking. Here's the quote:

“People have killed characters in the past, but to me, that kind of ends the story,” Mr. Morrison said. “So what I am doing is a fate worse than death. Things that no one would expect to happen to these guys at all.”

It kind of suggests that Batman isn't really dead, and that I think is safe to say after having read 681. It was all about how Batman prepares for any eventuality, going to impossible lengths a lot of the time. For instance, bench pressing the top of a buried coffin to get out? I don't see that happening without at least a little super strength. So considering that, at the end of the comic we see Batman punch through the window of a helicopter which then explodes and falls into the water. I would imagine that's the very first eventuality a would be super crime fighter prepares for. So I think it's safe to say that's not what "worse than death" So, what is? The discovery of the "Zur En Arrh" Batman and what that means? That the whole story kind of revolves around that one moment when he was a little kid with his mom and dad is actually kind of familiar, and falls under the umbrella of DC's tendency to totally rip off TV show premises or bits from movies. I'm actually kind of sad about this one because Life on Mars is the coolest show ever made. I was a little hurt by the Booster Gold - Quantum Leap resemblance, but that show is almost 20 years old. The US remake of Life on Mars hasn't had a chance yet, and probably never will. Anyway, I guess this is a long way of explaining why I have reason to believe Bruce Wayne is going to be in a coma, maybe he's mad, or back in time. Whatever's happened, if he can work out the reason, he can get home ...
