> The whole issue is a conversation between Batman and Alfred. All the different comic stories of Batman being integrated into a single narrative continuum, with all the different incarnations of the Batman being taken as part of a whole, which gives Morrison and Batman the opportunity to comment on the different incarnations (re:Joker "He was killing people 3 months ago

Thought the art was brilliant and the story as told worked well. And it was a nice trip down memory lane. It was a bold move to have a consecutive arc where the readers(?) ultimately decide what part of the story is canon and what part is 'hallucination'.
> and today he had a laugh contest with Dick")

Imagined this throwaway line (or did it happen) couldve made a real goodfun Year 1 type story!
> and come up with a bit of an explanation of Gotham's attraction to freaks (as Secret Invasion #8, I read through it rather quickly and will read it again later today when I go back home).

> Then Batman realises Alfred is not really Alfred, just in time for a reality change where Batman's parents never died

Yeah, not exactly sure how he caught it but it was a good story device. Curious what classic Batman-Family issue he fell in love with the BiBatwoman and if the Madison gal is an reused character too.
> ... The whole conversation with "Alfred" is happenning in his head while Batman is a prisoner of Darkseid (as seen in Final Crisis) ...

Darn! Missed the Darkseid connection. Thanks for that. At least no Earther will be privy to his secret identity this way.
> they are using him to distill his bad-assness to use for their army ...

Better than RIP. Beware The Pencilneck! \:\-\) Banner submission source too...

The Batwoman is the original version, Kathy Kane. Who was not a lesbian. Bruce did have some feelings for her, but it never really went beyond that. The Madison gal is Julie Madison, the first female love interest in the early Detective Comics stories. She was reintroduced in "Batman & The Monster Men" and "Batman & The Mad Monk" by Matt Wagner, a couple of years ago.
