I posted this over at the DC Board, but thought the episode would be worth mentioning here.

Loved this episode, but am STUNNED at some of what they managed to get away with here.

A neat, fluffy little teaser with Blue Beetle which does have the scarab suit do something it didn't do before, but which is quite pivotal to the concept; ("Call me crazy, but I'm pretty sure Batman doesn't banter with his SUIT!")

Main story has Red Tornado, living as a human in an unnamed city dealing with an alien invasion from Neptune trying to steal Santa and... more hijinks!

Heh, weird, I would have sworn that was Alan Rachins as Red Tornado (rather than Corey Burton, who it in fact was), but I liked the take on him (reminded me vaguely of the Martian Manhunter in the Justice League Christmas episode), trying to get into the Christmas spirit without understanding it, the OOT decorationss, the hideous jumper etc. BTW the name Professor Ulthoon, that he uses, is a nod to his comic background as "Ulthoon, the Tornado Tyrant of Rann"

FunHaus was a bizarre cross between the Joker and the Super Friends toon Toyman, so I wonder why they didn't just use either one of them, preferably Toyman (since the plot wasn't terribly Jokerish), and I notice the cameo by BTAS Baby Doll as "Dolly Dynamite"!

And they actually did something I wasn't sure was possible by showing the Wayne murder in a Christmas episode!! And even moreso they actually amped UP the tragic angst of the origin, making Bruce a brilliant, if somewhat spoiled, kid, who screws up what turns out to be his last day or two with his parents with a temper tantrum and being moody, and at CHRISTMAS time too. Unbelievable!

And only showing us two brief muzzle flashes and a couple of quiet gunshots was an inspired way of highlighting the horror.

Full of the usual nice moments; "Were you traumatised by the killer Santa robots?" or after batman punched the head off a Santa Claus, telling watching kids "You didn't see that")

This show is so much fun, that even when it's dark it's brilliant!
