Subj: Batman/John Constantine/Daredevil - are they the "3 cult characters" of mainstream comic books ? Posted: Sun Oct 23, 2011 at 12:47:55 pm CDT (Viewed 236 times)
Hello, recently, I was thinking about that : When I think about a Marvel "cult character", I think about Daredevil. He is not as famous as Spider-Man & Hulk, not as popular as Wolverine & the X-Men. Nevertheless, he is the main character who has had the longest list of innovative writers & artists (Lee, O'Neil, Miller, Nocenti, Bendis, Brubaker, Everett, Wood, Romita Sr, Colan, Romita Jr, Mack, Maleev, et cetera. I forgot many people). When I think about a DC "cult character", well, Batman is the one. Of course, he is the 2nd most famous comic book character of all time, but he is also the character that most writers want to write about and that most artists want to draw. When I think about a Vertigo book, John Constantine seems like the obvious answer. What do you think ?
