Batman and Robin #7
The best issue of the run so far which isn't to hard for me to claim given my general reaction to the run so far. It seems to have generally gotten fair reviews online so gonna cut&paste the key points that echoed my feelings. Though AFAIK ..err.. nobody mentioned how unclearly NoBody got sooo many those sharpee thingees in Bruce's back in the otherwise entertaining mano a mano. Also, adding a banner submission, here, from the chilling splash page. Does anyone have anything to add that hasn't already been said online?
Now this is more like it. Now that all the backstory is out of the way, Peter Tomasi and artist Patrick Gleason really get a chance to cut loose with Batman and Robin #7, providing an action-heavy, explosive conclusion to their first arc with one hell of an ending twist.
I liked it. Really strong character work here and a pretty nice final battle against Nobody, the art is great as usual too. I have mixed thoughts on the ending but I will wait to see how Tomasi plays with it.
While this is an amazing issue, it is not without faults. The first being Batman crashing into the boat Nobody and Damian were on and somehow containing that crash perfectly on their deck without killing either of the two or even badly hurting them
What the $#@@@@@@&. Okay, I was half expecting Damian to do something here, but then when it happened I thought "nah man, he just paralyzed him." Then you look again, and you realize, you can't see Damian's fingers, as his knuckles are up to Morgan's forehead.
