Subject: Wolverine Origins 18... [SPOILERS] [Re: David Medinnus] Posted Fri Oct 19, 2007 at 12:43:24 pm EDT |

Ignoring the TREMENDOUS urge to micro-analyze the continuity aspects and to dissect the retconned Bucky personality this was a ENJOYABLE story to read about CAPTAIN AMERICA as told thru the eyes of Logan. Wolverine Origins 18 http://www.marvel.com/catalog/?id=7468 ![]() s p o i l e r s -hated the cover. Blech*: Uniformed HYDRA (when did they chronologically first sport the standard greens?) NOT in the story and Logan IN his cowboy hat. -Previously Page compliment(??!!): good to show credit of Simon&Kirby -very nice clean style art -narration of the 'Cap' story is still effectively Wolverine-centric -well THAT answers that about my CAP31 review question lower on the MB... Bucky was (retconned) a bully in WWII -"Eventually he'd show us all." ![]() -Is Djerba reference first seen in this arc? -Logan meat Nick before Cap did? And here? -"It WASN'T a joke." ![]() -Nick was rightly well informed to the comical surprise of Cap. (Do we know the Brit[?] equally informed there) -even with his recovered memories, did Logan know Romulus at that point? -continuity attention paid to the Widow/Strucker arc is evident -Bucky making the call of what Cap 'need to know' seemed wrong. Not the fact that Cap was not entirely in the loop. -Bucky keeping secrets from Cap of personal missions would not likely lead to their classic strong friendship. Not only a bully but an assassin at 16... hmmph -"Yeah he actually said that." Calling him James at that moment had meaning -Bucky with the bloody dagger panel seemed like it should've had a bubbly border since Logan at best could imagine that scenario -eyes on Logan ![]() -that answers that about Cap and guns, at least to this creative team -neat tidbit of how SHIELD got it's name ![]() -I've seen repeated story moments where the hero volunteers his weapon to a minor character to a minor character for combat but the passing of the shield here had a refreshing new angle to it -"BECAUSE HE TOLD ME TOO." Perfect characterization of why Logan has followed Cap's lead in many a Marvel adventure -Cap carries TWO packs... Perfect. -"I'm going up the middle." Perfect. -Double splash... Perfect... no wait a minute shouldn't he have his original shield?? -Cap passing the buck AFTER the fight makes bureaucratic sense as Cap's scowl shows -Fury sparing a character from Limbo works too -the ending gave some self contained story satisfaction Hire Black Cat: ![]() and enter the current caption contest...

Subject: yeah, about that tribute...... [SPOILERS] [Re: emerick man] Posted Sun Oct 21, 2007 at 07:44:52 am EDT |

i think it is great to see Marvel pay tribute to Simon and Kirby for creating Captain America. This should have been done a long time ago, and i only hope it becomes standard in his own title and in other appearances. As one of the first characters created for Marvel it is only fitting. (Sub-Mariners creator Bill Everett should also be paid the same respect) Whether this is something agreed in Joe Simons recent settlement, or a stipulation of the books writer or artist is irrelevant. Its just good to see.
