I consider myself pretty knowledgeable about Cap, but this one is stumping me ... has the Steve Rogers Cap ever used any weapons or equipment besides the shield? Things I'm aware of are
- the original triangular shield
- the original round shield
- the armor during the Fighting Chance storyline
- the "Captain" shield(s)
- the the photonic shield

Did he ever use or carry anything back in his Golden or Silver Age appearances? Did S.H.I.E.L.D. ever supply him with any funky gizmos back in the '60s or '70s?

It was retconned that a lot of the shields he carried in his early Avengers and Tales of Suspense stories were built by Tony Stark -- shields with magnets and other devices. Apparently, several of these shields were destroyed or lost, but Cap always had his shield in the next issue, so...

As part of the retcon, it was established that Cap quit carrying those shields because he didn't like their balance, or just plain preferred his original shield.

SHIELD also gave him some other gadgets, early on in TOS and early issues of his own run.
