Subject: How should marvel End The Sentry Saga Now? Posted Mon Jan 11, 2010 at 07:24:43 am EST (Viewed 189 times) |

IF his story is finally coming to an end after the Seige... Just how should Marvel end it? that Sentry is killed off when he is forced to stop the Void? That he decided to go off inti Comic Limbo until furhter notice? That he is shown being Beyonder/Korveck/marvel man etc? That is just an imanginary figment of some higher power? That he "burns out" his powers and is reset at Thor levls? That he goes off into Soace? What?

As of now, Marvel could do any of those you listed. I previously thought that some writer would have to do a lot of work to clear up some contradictions, but it appears that Bendis is aware of all of these problems and is doing something with them. In sticking with the "unicorn" analogy from the first mini, I think it would make sense for Bob to be lost and forgotten again. If Sentry was going to die it seems that Jenkins should be the one to do it. It would be like letting somebody besides Pak finish that trilogy.

***Starting first with Hulk by revealing that he LET him win that fight since he felt bad for all those times VOID pwned Hulks green arse!! Then from there he simply gets fed up and destroys everything. Then looks into the readers eyes(breaking the 4th wall) the page would just be white and it would only have Sentry on it and he would say...For all of you that say I dont do anything...there...now I will do everything and Boom he reignites the New MU which would be half like the old one. ![]()

I know maximum man might not like it ![]() The Sentry is Odin and Surtur combined into one being from their big fight. Odin is containing Surtur. It explains his duality. It explains his power level. It explains why he looked like Thor in his prison cell. And it explains why there's that giant sword behind sentry when he is holding a skull on one of those new covers. I'd really like that. I don't think that's the case, but I like it.

So in this theory would all memories of the Sentry from before Odin's death by fabricated? Even disregarding those memories, the Sentry's first real appearance in MU-616 was before Odin's death.

It doesn't matter than Sentry appeared before Odin's death. Since he rewrote history anyway. My theory would be alot more fun than what really is going to happen.

I think it'd be great if he erased everyone's memory of him, just like he did originally, and then became a everyday ordinary citizen once again. That way, Marvel can always pull him back into continuity if the story calls for him to reclaim his mantle, or just leave him in character limbo indefinitely.

Subject: Him Facing the Reality of The Void Now Being Himself... [Re: JesusFan] Posted Mon Jan 11, 2010 at 04:28:08 pm EST (Viewed 137 times) |

The logical way to end it (for now at least) is to have him faced with the unwanted truth that he himself has become The Void. Or Is in real danger of crossing the line into that territory. I think myself when Osborn recently reinforced the idea in his mind that there was no Void and it was all inside his head it became a self fullfilling prophesy as The Void finally had the power of self-belief to flip over and start taking over Sentry fully. That's why he's increasingly become more loyal to Osborn and may be a part explanation as to who Osborns mysterious Ally/Weapon is - what is The Void is so dominant it is not only now able to seperate from Sentry but has control over him as well? I think that's the sort of direction they're headed in and has been foreshadowed for much of Bendis' time with the character, that Sentry/Void are one and the same and Bob's going to have to face up to what's going on in his head and what he's responsible for because of his own weakness. It may even be that the reason he's gotten more powerful is due to this mental reinforcing reinforcing of Osborns, with none of the friction between him denying the Void he has better access to his full power range... (Alternatly wouldn't it be wild if he was revealed to be (at least partly) Odin? Mad idea sure but remember Marnot? Sentry could be some sort of contingency plan of Odins to get him out of jail at the right time). ![]()

As he is right now, he is the most powerful superhero on Earth. Where can he go from here after Siege? I predict that by the end of Siege, either the Sentry is somehow destroyed, de-powered, or removes himself from the Marvel Universe indefinitely.

It would fit with a lot of Odin's past behavior, such as the Marnot incident or creating a human persona for Thor to be grafted to in the form of Dr. Blake. Didn't Odin also once walk the earth as a homeless man under self-imposed amnesia? And it also would make his "higher than top tier" rep palatable if he's really a Skyfather. Of course, I don't think any of the speculation about Sentry turning out to be some other established character will turn out to be the case, unless Paul Jenkins no longer has any say in the matter. I doubt it's what he intended for the character and he seems pretty protective of his golden boy. But if your Odin theory panned out, I'd be all for it.

destroying the 616 universe- okay, I could deal with that. Recreating the 616 universe- sure that's plausible too I guess. Thor actually defeating the Hulk?... sorry, but that's too "science fiction" even for the comic book medium. Gotta keep it in the realm of realistic suspension of disbelief... and that would be a bit too absurd.
