Superman would probably lose, due to his vulnerability to magic. According to Byrne, Thor hitting Superman with Mjolnir would be like Lou Ferrigno hitting Arnold Schwarzenegger with a sledgehammer.

John Byrne: "Superman has no special vulnerability to magic. He just has no defense against it, like thee and me. As to the question of Thor's hammer, it would be like Lou Ferrigno hitting Ah-nold with a sledge hammer."

Theoretically, Superman could avoid all of Thor's strikes with his super-speed, but it probably wouldn't be written that way. If Superman didn't have that weakness, he'd probably beat Eric.

good point, and John B was also the one that stated his Glads mop the floor with that Supes, bujt was very surprised when he came back and did a few issues withj Gail Simone, as DC to him had him getting back to PC like levels again!

If the magic weakness was defined that way (which is not an opinion all writers share), then it would mostly likely BE written that he avoids getting hit using the various means at his disposal.

Can't have a dead Superman after all!

he would probably be shown getting tagged and hurt by it, and then figure on getting it away from Erik!

He'd probably be more likely to use some super-speed in a fight like that than an average fight, but I don't see him fighting someone like Thor and not getting hit at all. Nor do I think that one blow from Mjolnir is likely to be lethal to him, even under writers who play up the magic weakness.

How did Eric tend to fight, as a bruiser or smart?

He was definitely a bruiser rather than a technical fighter. That was very evident when he fought the real Thor, and even Dargo Ktor, another Mjolnir-wielding mortal who was a slicker fighter than Eric was.

That said, Eric was in some ways a smarter fighter than the real Thor, because he was willing to fight dirty, rather than adhere to a code of honour. For example, he wrapped his cape around Ulik's head to blind him, so he could land some cheap shots, which is something the real Thor wouldn't have done.

Also, when he realised that Dargo was a better fighter than he was, he stopped trying to match him in skill, and just smashed the ground hard enough to launch Dargo into the air, allowing him to connect with Dargo while he was in midair.

He later did the same thing against Lady Sif, when he was wielding the Thunderstrike mace.

Heimdall also noted that Eric's skills improved over time.

Think that would play into that Superman though, as he was smarter and better at using his super powers!
