I like this interview and thought it was well worth the read.

It's interesting that a hero/villain performs one amazing feat, or use a power they haven't used for 20+ years, and that automatically propels them to a high status despite scans and evidence to the contrary. I don't know what is worse, selective feat picking that has only been done once or twice 20, or more, years ago or ignoring evidence from scans or the lack thereof. We need to stop putting our favorite heroes/villains on pedestals and start putting them where they really belong. But it's evident that people never will because they would rather accuse others of cherry picking feats, when they don't, and being 'morally superior' when they aren't. I guess being honest and as fair as possible only opens one up to being the target of childish accusations and fault finding by those who insist on acting petty and childish. What happened to a good debate between two civil, mature, adults?

They haven't said it yet but to me it seems pretty clear Jay is from Hourman's world as Hourman showed up on the Legends finale last week. My gut tells me we'll see someone else from the JSA in tonight's Arrow finale. Which would kind of be awesome...3 shows in the same franchise
touching on the same plot point in their season finales.
Then again maybe not...Arrow's not really a show you would expect to see a visitor from an alternate reality popping by to say hello. If we did get a JSA member on Arrow the logical choice IMO would be Doctor Fate since they're dealing with an evil mystic on that show.

Wow, that interview makes it sound like Henry Allen will stay dead even with Barry saving his mother. But Jay Garrick will end up being back, a lot.

I hope he does return at times to give advice to Barry and deal with the fact that he is the counterpart of Henry Allen and how that affects Barry.
John Wesley Shipp did state he never wanted to wear the costume again, but the costume they did make for him seems a bit more comfortable and it doesn't have the headmask like modern Flash's costume has had.
I suspect the headmask is what makes it the most uncomfortable given all the sweat and heat build up given that the head is the greatest source of body heat expenditure.
Also, money does talk, I like how Shipp apparently wasn't told right away about the plans for him to be Jay, of course that could be a PR stunt and that he knew right away who knows? However Shipp wants to be paid, wants his career still moving so yeah, suit up and be the Golden Age Flash.
Some people say he should have been the Barry Allen of the 90's Flash series since we did see them integrate the 90's series into the multiverse, however I disagree with that idea. They could have Barry visit the 90's Flash earth at some point and have Shipp suited up in the old suit for an episode, that would be fine. However Jay Garrick is a major part of the Flash mythos, and I think it is more fitting that they have Jay played by Shipp.

I hope not. Not to say I don't like the character, but if they're turning Wally into Kid Flash and Jesse into Jesse Quick, there's going to be just too many speedsters running around. It's really going to detract from Barry's storylines.
But having Shipp migrate to a Justice Society series - which looks increasingly like it's on the cards - THAT would be awesome. And if they really wanted to spoil us with a Teen Titans show featuring Wally, I don't think I'd be TOO upset at that

How did someone who's apparently a genetic twin for Henry Allen end up with the wrong last name on another Earth? I can see the first name being different, but the last?
Yes, I know there's Allen ancestry involving the Garrick name, but still...
Are they going to say that on Earth 3, a female ancestor of Barry's (that is, her doppleganger)...maybe his GRANDMOTHER*, never married her child's father?
Gets a bit messy.
*I forget who Henry said his Garrick ancestor was.

It does seem forced, but then they did set up the clues quite early on as to what was coming - the Earth-1 Jay Garrick being adopted early and renamed Hunter Zolomon was a key clue looking back, and it makes sense that there had to be a real Jay/Flash for Zoom to copy from for his deception. But whether it was always intended right from the start of the season that Wesley-Shipp would be the genuine Jay Garrick is something we can only guess on.
Having now seen some images of him in the Jay Garrick Flash suit (courtesy of Facebook!) the new costume is slowly growing on me. The problem really comes down to Shipp himself being a little too big and a little too stocky to convince that he is someone used to the intensive exercise and discipline of running distances as a Super-speedster. And god knows how he is that well built given his months(?) of captivity and undoubted suffering locked away in isolation as he was....
When you look to any picture of the comicbook Barry or Jay both are uniformly depicted as lithe athletic figures, but in spite of that Shipp does have exactly the right charisma and prescence to convey a faithful representation of who the comicbook Jay Garrick was and why he was so popular and well regarded. For that if nothing else he is welcome in the role as far as I am concerned.
But it will be the fact that in a sense Henry Allen has been returned as a fellow Flash, and surrogate father figure, that will make future appearances worth waiting for.
