In a 2 year span Marvel has:

Killed Thor
Killed Captain America
Turned Iron Man into an A$$ Hole
Outed Peter Parker as Spider Man
Brought Captain Marvel back to life (so much for dead is dead!)

What is the point? This is like car crash television, one "oh crap" moment after another, hoping for something to stick.

Don't get me wrong, there is a lot I like - the 1 or 2 issues of the Ultimates each year; Annihilation; or the Sentry mini (which got better as it went along), but why, why, why, why makes all these fundamental changes on - what looks like - a whim?

...into, in my eyes, something of an uber-badass bitch. Even in Hudlin's the Black Panther, she's asking T'Challa after Storm in a way we know the demure monica never would. She's not a man-grabber.

And don't forget the historical Avengers were 'destroyed,' and the classic FF family has broken up.

At least Polaris is un-insane again.

But right now, the message is clear: anyone is up for 'negative grabs' of the worst kind.

Peace.

Trying to recapture the glory years of the mid 90's like when Captain America was dying and needed a suit of armour to keep going, Spider-Man was replaced by his clone, Iron Man was turned into a teenager, Thor was killed during ragornoak and they need a Captain Marv-ell or Marvel running around for the hell of it.

Come on, get a grip. Marvel has done wackey and weird things in the past to tell new stories... guess what... they are going to do wackey and weird things in the now and future to tell new stories.

Disgrunted one:

I don't mind change, but you have to admit that this thing looks, in retrospect, like it was thrown together!
If you are gonna kill Cap (a BIG EVENT) why not do it in Civil War.
If you are gonna kill Thor - why not tie it into something, other than a overly shortened run in his own book.
If Iron Man is gonna turn - then why not drop clues or make it gradual turn. Heck, in 1 or 2 quicky issues, he went from pal-O-Cap to a lying jerk.
If you are gonna bring Captain Marvel back - his death being a cornerstone of Marvel storytelling - why bring him back in a one-shot - why not build it up.

that is why is seems like car-crash T.V. - just kinda thrown together.

See, they were in a no win situation with this one. They kill Cap in Civil War, than some Captain America fans would be pissed because it didn't happen in his own title. They would feel cheated that they had to buy an extra issue. They did the right thing. Why is it no win? Now there are fans that are complaining that they bought a 7 issue mini-series and what looks to be the big payoff came in another title. Some feel cheated about those 7 issues. I repeat, Marvel did the right thing by having such an important event happening in that characters title.

> If you are gonna kill Thor - why not tie it into something, other than a overly shortened run in his own book.

Can't comment on Thor. I didn't even now he was dead, again, until Civil War came out.

> If Iron Man is gonna turn - then why not drop clues or make it gradual turn. Heck, in 1 or 2 quicky issues, he went from pal-O-Cap to a lying jerk.

Iron Man, to me, has always been a selfish lying jerk. That is just my opinion based on the brief time I spent with the character. He beat up his best friend to further his own goals\vendetta during the Armour Wars.

> If you are gonna bring Captain Marvel back - his death being a cornerstone of Marvel storytelling - why bring him back in a one-shot - why not build it up.

If the build up was too long, people would call that story too long. "I remember the good old days when a character would die, be buried and resurrected all in the span of 3 pages... now we got the year long event of Captain Marvels return... bah!".

> that is why is seems like car-crash T.V. - just kinda thrown together.

I don't see it. I've seen this Rodeo several times before.

..after he successfully stopped the fates so Ragnarok would not continue the cycle and also Those Who Sit Above in Shadow.

Also, it's been about two and a half years since Thor was cancelled... :-@

Lets not forget what they did to one of my favorites Speedball. I hate Penence. They made him into a monster, a masochistic monster.

At least they didn't dissect him, turn him white, and return him without a personality.

I do though agree with you about Genis, he was one of my favorites.

Perhaps, but apparently, she's back in harlot mode... but then so is every other woman (except Lilandra) in Brubaker's Uncanny X-Men.

Agreed about everything else.
