I remember hearing about how Norman Osborn offered to reveal who was actually behind the Stamford explosion involving the New Warriors and Nitro.

Was this ever followed up on, or has it been dropped?

Wasn't it hinted that there was some larger force pulling the strings behind all the superhero fighting?

Or has all this been my imagination?

I can see the Mad Thinker pulling something like this off, since his computer-like brain would be able to accurately balance all the different variables involved, how the different players in the drama would react, and how to arrange matters properly so everything works out the way he plans.

Maybe he's the one exploiting the Skrulls...

Until someone clarifies/contrdicts, last I heard it was some new(?) CEO at DC (Damage Control). Think it was revealed in the Wolverine series.

the new CEO of Damage Control gave Nitro a drug that increased the amount of destruction his powers caused. I believe he is dead.

it would be nice if people in the Marvel U started blaming him and Nitro for the deaths instead of anyone who was ever related to the New Warriors.

I believe it's going to turn out that the Skrulls are in some way behind the scenes in what went down during CIVIL WAR, along with the Raft Breakout, SECRET WAR and other stuff.

You know, it did seem that he had a partner in the government, Henry Peter Gyrich?, and although his reason seemed to be profit, I been wondering if this was also to get the registration act going, while things didn't work out as planned since the CEO seemed very displeased with Nitro while he was in Washington. That maybe the Stamford incident was suppose to be a scare, instead of a disaster.

Where did all this happen? I missed it.

So that's all this was? A way for Damage Control to make work and cash in?

Talk about your major letdowns. I thought we'd have an evil genius turn out to be behind this.

Hell, Marvel has all kinds of villains who'd be suitable candidates:

-The Mad Thinker (has the smarts to correctly predict all the variables)

-Mephisto (his tricking and manipulating Tony would explain an awful lot)

-Cobweb (Secretly messing with the heads of a number of powerful people could easily lead to this sort of disaster, and Cobweb is a master planner, if you've read the Sleepwalker stories)

-Nightmare (see Cobweb)

-Loki ('Nuff said, as Stan would say)

-Dr. Doom (see Loki)

-The Headmen (this is the kind of crazy scheme they could pull off)

-The Skrulls (Again, 'Nuff said)

Any of these villains could be the masterminds behind the Civil War. I know Cobweb might still be imprisoned in the Mindscape, but has anyone been keeping track of the Headmen? How about Mephisto or Nightmare? Could Doctor Strange have been so caught up in this business with the Illuminati that his enemies dropped out of sight?

Damage Control do construction work, so would probably have been expecting a few demolished buildings with some relatively small scale collateral loss of adult life. Full scale disaster with the detonation of a school would NOT be what they wanted.
