I had a thought about Marvel and their first issues. I think maybe Marvel should consider having all the first issues of their new minis and ongoings cost only $1.00, and then starting with #2 go to the $2.99 thing. Remember the two DC $1.00 one-shots? BRAVE NEW WORLD and COUNTDOWN TO INFINITE CRISIS? I bought those because they were a dollar (I normally would have skipped the BRAVE NEW WORLD one). If the first issue of a book is a dollar it might help people to check the book out. That way, if they really like it, they can continue buying the book at regular prices. If someone doesn't like the issue, all they lost was a dollar. Like everyone else, I can't afford to buy every book on the market, so I pick and choose and try buying new titles if I like the character, or team, or writer or whatever. But sometimes, I see books I'd like to get but skip because I can't afford to buy them, so I miss out. However, if the first issue was $1.00, I'd be more inclined to try the book and then continue buying it. I'm not sure if this is a good idea or not, but there it is. What does everyone else think?
