Evil G: DR implied something in the "Ultimatum" thread below that struck me as being worthy of a thread unto itself:

The Ultimate Universe doesn't need to last forever. That's what 616 is for. The Ultimate Universe can simply stop. No more stories. And then... after a few years of quiet... a whole new Ultimate Universe can be built from the ground up, by a new batch of writers.

I'd love to see what Jeff Parker, Zeb Wells, Abnett and Lanning, Matt Fraction and Greg Pak would come up with.

Should Marvel do this?

TLDR:

1. 3-4 titles with writers here for the long term, dedicated to being on time and interacting with the other titles and characters of the universe.

2. Massive reduction in minis, maybe none at all, and eliminate Ultimates if it can't escape the delays.

3. No more Loeb.

I personally won't mind if everything except Ultimate Spidey stopped, but it's one of the few books that I know, every month, will be at least good, if not excellent.

I agree. Which writers? I had offered these: Jeff Parker, Zeb Wells, Abnett & Lanning, Matt Fraction, Greg Pak.

I agree here also. I doubt we would have had the minis at all if Ultimates wasn't so incredibly slow or - lately - so incredibly bad.

Agreed.

Yes - I don't read that comic but I know it has a loyal fan base who wouldn't want it to be cancelled; nevertheless, Bendis won't stay on it forever. I would suggest letting the comic end while its writer still has energy for it, instead of waiting for him to churn out dreck.
