This title will probably need powerful lobbyists.
NEW WARRIORS 14

Will try to focus on the good of the story (abbreviated from NWMB)...

Classic clash-pose on cover.
No worse than any other Marvel wasted Prev Page.
Much better artwise - for first half.
Very good layout to include as many, still indistinguishable members, all in a panel as often as it was done here.
The diner backdrop.
Synchronizing the SI attack moment with other titles.
Everything about this page:
Thrash has an (unknown) SI game plan for the team.
Not a fan of their tech access, but flight use is smart use of it.
Showing a confirmed kill. Will be posting in more reviews that there should be a demand to know what heroes killed how many skrulls at the end of SI.
Yeah, it's war but it's still a GIGANTIC character development point for each one!!!!
The return of the Old Warriors.
Unfortunately, confusing fight where Thrash somehow handles the Old but ends with a nice cliche cliffhanger arrival of the New.

To Tell you the truth AS a die Hard New Warriors fan, I am happy with this book.
It was set up for sales failure. A no name writer (whose improved dramatically)..a team consisting of NO old warriors, and whose actually IDs as X-cast offs, was held secret for several issues.
If you were not a fan of Jubes or NT, this book probably wasn't for you. Personally, I love the Night Thrasher stuff..he's always been a fav of mine and Bandit seems to be doing just fine.
So I am happy it has made it to its solicited issue 17. People seem to really want an "old warrior" book, and this series when it does end will have helped convey that.

The way you say that, you seem to imply the series is a sales success. It's not. It is basically the lowest selling series at Marvel (excluding those titles Marvel has a reason to keep going). It's at 20K now, and is still losing alot of readers.
I would guess cancelled at issue 25. I don't really see a reason for Marvel to keep the book around despite the sales.
> If you were not a fan of Jubes or NT, this book probably wasn't for you. Personally, I love the Night Thrasher stuff..he's always been a fav of mine and Bandit seems to be doing just fine.

I am a big fan of both Jubes and Night Thrasher, but not of Wondra and Bandit. I read the first 6 issues of the series with the hope that it would be Dwayne, and when it wasn't, I left.

Nah, I didnt mean it was selling..but I understand WHY it is not selling. At any rate 25 issues will be a nice run for the book.

I'd probably say issue 20

Well I disagree, I have really dug Bandit and , like you, I was mad when it was not Dwayne. Donyell's basically been acting exacly like Dwayne though..sometimes I forget its even Donyell. Bandit was a silly character before. His look and backstory were over the top cliche. It is clear Kevin Grievioux was given an exceptionally short leash on this book. Griev's admitted at SDCC he was "made" to use these characters. I am sure he would have rather used Dwayne, as that is exactly who he is writing IMO.

I prefer my characters not to have interchangeable dialog, for there to be at least minimal continuity between an old series and a current one, and maybe even visually tell who's who. I honestly did want to like it but I dropped it when I realized I had to make myself read the last issue I bought.

Like you, I'm really enjoying this series, and this has shocked me. I wasn't a fan of the original New Warriors. This isn't to say that I disliked them. I just never paid them much mind. When they met their end, I was pissed because I didn't think they deserved to go out like that. I think my initial reason for buying this series was because I thought the original team had been treated poorly since the Zeb Wells mini.
I also haven't been a fan of Jubilee and Chamber. Jubilee had been one of my least favourite X-Characters. Chamber was always too emo for me, and the whole blown apart face aspect of the character turned me off, as well. In fact, I disliked most of Generation X (M being the only exception).
Nor was I a fan of Morrison's X-Men. However, among the few things from his run that I did like were the Omega Gang, Beak, and Angel Salvadore. So, naturally, I was tickled when it was revealed these guys were in this series.
I can understand what's kept and driven people away from this series, for the reasons you mentioned, plus the very sluggish start. I definitely don't think it should have been done the way it was. I'm glad I was patient with Grevioux, though, because I think the last several issues have been stellar! I've even started to like Jubilee and, sorta, Jono.
This latest issue was, I think, my second favourite read of the month. Only the latest X-Men Legacy excited me more.

yeah man, I agree that Griev's has really improved and some of the characters I had NO interest in are growing on me..and I have been a cold X fan for years, probably since the late 90s.
I still think if the book we to introduce 1 old school warrior ..it could really click.

I loved the old Niceiza/Bagley stuff. The current book, I gave a try until issue 7 or 8. As of those issues I was still very unclear as to who everyone was, I was intrigued by the Night Thrasher subplot, but the book seemed to be going no where. I'll pick the book up again for the Counter Force issues to see Justice and Rage. Other than that,...well...I REALLY WANTED to like this book

Which old school Warrior would you choose?
I think the original Warriors I liked the best (NT, Namorita, and Speedball) died in Stamford (Speedball is dead to me until he stops being Penance).

AM a New Warriors fan, maybe not die hard anymore. Was for the first 25-30 issues of volume 1. Also was so happy to own 2 copies of THOR #212-213 (until the New Millenium - still have 'em but so what). This book has been hit and miss, this issue had LOTS more good than Machinesmith arc.

Read your observation to my NWMB post and now here more elaborated... Hmmm...

Not a fan of Jubilee but she has potential with NW. Really liked her settling up with Logan issue but have questioned her ongoing 'WE SHOULD QUIT' attitude being so ongoing and she still so NOTgoing (not that she should). Like NT, Dwayne or Bandit. And hope to see more development with Sophia who has been next most interesting.

Like this anti-SHRA team concept, though it still needs work on execution. Looking forward to next SI issue(not so much how Slapstick appears drawn on cover)...

Meh. I never liked blue Nita and read somewhere that Byrne's thesis that hybrids like Namora would be sterile isn't 100% true. I say the scientist who told Nita she was a clone did it to distract her so he could subdue and stash her somewhere so an actual clone could take over her life. She's in a tube underwater. And Night Thrasher? Despise the character but he could have been replaced by a Skrull pre-CW but the ship carrying him had power failure in near space. He'd still be in there drifting around in stasis.

Personally, I'd go with Rage. Not a founder, but old-school enough for me. He ties in nice to Night Thrasher..he's such an interesting character to me.
But I also would like to see more Justice and/or Firestar.

I've always liked Nita, but yes, I disliked the idea that she and Namor are sterile and that she was a clone. Personally, I think it's a shame they didn't grow her up and use her the way they're using Namora right now. Also, because of Namora being around, I'm skeptical that there is a place for Nita anywhere in the MU.
I suppose anyone, live or dead, could be a Skrull.

Really not a fan of Justice or Firestar. Not really sure why, but I think it has to do with their relationship. Individually, I think they're fine characters, but since they've been together they've turned me off. I do think Rage would be a great choice.
