Doesn't seem to be a printing issue, as the work has already been reprinted recently. A legal issue is unlikely due to the same reason, though it's still possible.

I'm gonna guess demand. It's an expensive ($99) item, that isn't going to have high demand. The issues were collected a few years ago. Any CB fan might have already got the collections and may not be willing to double dip. Of course Panni recently printed these collections in Europe as well.

Then you have the fact that there really is not "future" for the character right now with his series being cancelled. It's not like Marvel can say "hey, you liked the CB omnibus?, then pick up CB's current series". Compare that to the other omnibuses, which have more of a "future".

Just a guess looking all the factor involved. Collections are often delayed in order to have time to increase their orders.

...because if there is demand for Secret Wars I and II omnibi, then they shouldn't have a problem with Captain Britain.
I would love to see the actual sales on those Secret Wars volumes...baffling.

Secret Wars is popular, I can see why it gets an omnibus. Secret Wars II, which I think is less popular, has never been reprinted before, so I can see that somewhat. The alternative to this collection would be to get the back issues. No other collection for SWII exists.

But these CB issues have been reprinted a few years ago, by Marvel (in 2002 and reprinted in 2005) in the US and Panni in Europe. Any hardcore CB fan would have probably bought those collections years ago, and may not be willing to "double dip" on an omnibus.

Similarly, wasn't the Alpha Flight Classic Vol 2 TPB delayed and eventually canceled because of low sales?

I'm surprised Marvel didn't release this before the Watchmen movie, in an attempt to get sales off of Alan Moore. Or maybe at the beginning of the current CBMI13 ongoing. But with a delay, they might be able to increase their initial orders for the books, and get a better print run.

Just guessing of course.

I just can't see why those are justified for an omnibus, though. Secret Wars, while a big seller, has been widely panned as the grandfather of "big events" and written off for the stiff writing. Here's what's in the Secret Wars I omnibus that I got from InStockTrades.com: SECRET WARS #1-12 - plus THOR #383, SHE-HULK (2004) #10, and WHAT IF? (1989) #4 and #114. Total of 16 issues for $99?????
And Secret Wars II...while it's kind of a guilty pleasure for me...it's just plain boring. Also, there's very little praise for it, and many of the talent during its day loathed it when having it crossed over in their titles. Fortunately, you do get your money's worth for it: Secret Wars II #1-9; New Mutants #30 and #36-37; Captain America #308; Uncanny X-Men #196 and #202-203; Iron Man #197; Fantastic Four #282, #285, #288 and #316-319; Web of Spider-Man #6; Amazing Spider-Man #268 and #273-274; Daredevil #223; Incredible Hulk #312; Avengers #260-261and #265-266; Dazzler #40; Alpha Flight #28; Thing #30; Doctor Strange #74; Cloak and Dagger #4; Power Pack #18; Thor #363; Power Man and Iron Fist #121; Peter Parker, Spectacular Spider-Man #111; Defenders #152; Deadpool Team-Up #1, and Quasar #8.
That's a bang for your buck.
And the more I look at it, the more I want to get it. \:P

Well, you can say the same thing about the Marvel Masterworks with Spider-Man, Hulk, X-Men and Avengers. We've seen the originals from the late 80's, subsequent re-issues in later years, the Barnes & Noble editions, and now the softcover editions for half the price...how many times can you reprint ASM #1-10???

Must've been a case of "Byrne-out" with all the FF Byrne Visionaries. HAH!

Well, if it's delayed any longer it's probably going to be cancelled. I ordered the book back in January when it was due out originally in March. Then it got pushed back to April, then May, and every month since.

And I'm one of those CB fans who have the issues already, but I jumped at the chance to have all of them in one large Omnibus. And I didn't pay $99 for it, I paid $59.99

...and it looks like it might be a production problem. A lot of the spines are losing pages because of the glue not holding together...and some of them are still in the shrink wrap. One review said that if any defects are noticed, you can let Marvel know and they'll refund you or send another one. I'm betting that they're trying to verify that this one will stay together.

Then again, maybe not -- who knows?

There's a lot of material that hasn't been reprinted in this Omnibus, and a lot of the older material has been restored, because past reprints had amended art or text. This is going back to the original versions.
