Subj: Dark Reign: Zodiac Question

First off, who has picked it up and what did you think about it?

Just picked up issue #1 and I thought it was a pretty solid book. The guy is a total psychopath and deadly, yet brilliant at the same time. With the connection to the FF in the issue and the revelation of the character's face at the end, it got me to wondering who the character was and I think I may know...Kristoff Venard, Doom's former heir.

Kristoff was brilliant in his own right, even before Doom's "cranial therapy" for lack of a better phrase. Zodiac looks like what a Kristoff Venard would look like in his mid-20s. He is arrogant, just like Zodiac is, and had a twisted sense of what honor is. Zodiac seemed to know which buttons to push with Storm. The fact that Doom had his butt saved by Osborn would not endear Osborn to Venard because it would make his hero figure/father figure look weak, ditto times a trillion for the FF. Venard would want revenge as a result. The information that he has at his disposal on superheroes & villains, as well as the ship in the McKeesport PA (my hometown) junkard, could have come from his years spent hanging out in the Baxter Building with the FF in the mid-1990s. Being manipulated so often could have turned him totally psychotic, as well as the fact that he "did not want anyone else to have the name" so he killed the human Zodiac gang...sounds like he hated playing Dr. Doom in name and costume only.

If this is the case, what an excellent twist for the character.
