What I'd really like to see is a generic comics board for asking questions not limited to one company but about comics.

But I'd like an Iron Age Board too.

I bet a lot of the people on comicboards did.

I also will officially agree and forever adamantly insist that your favorite Iron Age character would beat Wolverine in a fair fight if you post pix of Iron Age comics or memorabilia you recently purchased!

Sorry, sometimes when i see Banner mentioned on the Marvel board I cannot resist.

So the age of comics now goes gold, silver, bronze, iron, and modern. First time I seen Iron named as such was this thread. (I seen terms like modern and post modern used elsewhere).

I have to wonder, when the modern age gets old are we risking running out of good metals for age names? If we went classical value and transitioned to age of technology we'd go platinum, gold, silver, copper, bronze, iron and have a bit of room. Now it is odd. Would the next age be the mercury age? the irridium age? the tungsten age? the Ytturbium age? The Rhodium age? Maybe the Sodium age as it is likely to burst into flames. Perhaps they'd turn to comics themselves and do the adamantiumn age and the uru age?

The "Iron Age" designation has been around for years. What hasn't, as far as I know, is an exact demarcation of its start and end. I decided to draw a line in the sand and make it 1986-2000.

What happened in 2000? Bryan Singer's first X-Men movie.




I would call 2000 to the present the Silicon Age of Comics, because movies define this age, and they are made possible by CGI, which in turn is made possible by computer chips, which in turn are made possible by silicon.

Im not against it but since half ( if not more ) of the boards are almost dead why not promote the old boards before create a new one ?

I like your philosophy, BT. It's one I hold on the GSBA MB and stick to it! I also include cartoons, which have proven to have made for some fun threads.

One thing, though... I would expand the board until 2001 or 2002, so you could include X-Men's, Spider-Man's movie and even 9/11, if you like.
