I bought -

Invincible Iron Man #2 (because the first issue was pretty darn good)
Ant-Man #1 (because I loved the movie and loved the recent mini-series.)
Agents of Atlas #1 (because I can't resist these guys)

I looked at Uncanny Inhumans but decided I couldn't stand watching Johnny and Medusa as a couple. Crystal's your soul mate, Johnny.

I also looked at Karnak but decided I couldn't stand his brand of nihilism.

Other books I bought -

Superman Wonder Woman nos. 18-22
Wonder Woman nos. 41-45

DC (really Greg Pak) has caught my attention with the new Superman status quo.

Uncanny Inhumans : Yes, I'm on board. No idea how the Medusa Johnny thing will end but I'm sure it will. It was good but way too pricey.

Karnak: he explains to his disciples they must study a rock because the sum of all their existence is paled by the rock's. Because of this revelation I realized I should just get a rock and save 4 bucks a month. Between the nhilism as you say and the sketchbook style art I'm out.

Justice League 45: pretty insane but I can't imagine the New JLA Gods will stay any longer than the Johnny Medusa relationship. Maybe even shorter. People on Apok are as dumb as earthers when it comes to Lex. Big dip in the artwork though.

It has the Secret Wars logo on the cover and also on the first page, so it's not like Marvel was playing bait and switch, but sheesh - why the heck is Secret Wars still going on? Ugh.

I hadn't intended on buying any Secret Wars books. Now inadvertantly I have. Because yes, despite the logos on cover and first page, I didn't grasp the fact that this was a Secret Wars comic when I grabbed it off the shelf and quickly paged through it.

Ugh.

The good news is, it's Agents of Atlas. In the end, I really don't mind having bought it. I love those guys.

Don't like seeing him with Medusa either, but I can't believe people are still shipping him with Crystal. Ugh! Johnny's had about 10 other better women in his life.

Yeah, just looks very depressing.

Not liking this new Superboy.

Anyway... my list this week:

Ant-Man - meet the new world; same as the old world
SW: Agents of Atlas
SW: Age of Apocalypse - hmph... totally unexpected happy ending
SW: Weirdworld - probably my favourite SW tie-in
Uncanny Inhumans - curious about Beast's involvement.

And some DC issues...

Well, it was originally scheduled to run into October.

Yeah, it was a good story, even if worthless.

Well, there was Alicia - hmm, why is it that Marvel keeps pairing Johnny with women who are loved by his friends? It's kind of creepy. (Yes, I know "Alicia" was a Skrull. But Johnny didn't know that at first.)

I can't think of any other serious love interests he'd had. I know he's dated a bunch of women, but it never seemed serious.

Yeah, Secret Wars doesn't seem to have mattered to Scott Lang. But that's fine. I didn't want it to. His story wasn't broken. It doesn't need fixing.

Lyja Laserfist - perhaps my favourite FF female character of all time

Frankie Raye - probably partially because this was around the time I started reading

Dorrie Evans - after her recent appearance in #645 in a story called "Rekindled," I'd hoped they would get back together, but noooooo

Namorita - yeahyeah Nova yeahyeah she died-- he did too, and what happened with her time-displaced version; see someone on the team HAS TO hook up with either an Atlantean or a Skrull! just gotta!

Crystal - sorry, but she's always seemed kind of flaky to me... and I have issues with even the "best" Inhumans, which she isn't...

Hmm. You know, you're right, maybe Lyja is Johnnie's soul mate. I love Skrulls and whenever Lyja pops up she's always very interesting to me.

Both are too totally normal for me.

I liked her with Hercules. I also love her as an Agent of Atlas.

Namorita should get her own comic.

But as a love interest for Johnny, I just don't see it. Just as I don't see it with Medusa.

The flakiness started when she inexplicably fell in love with Quicksilver. That story line ruined both characters.

But OK, I admit it, Lyja is awesome. I vote for Lyja.

Worst retcon ever.

I hate Alicia Masters. So of course the one time I like her (when she sleeps with Johnny) she turns out to be a Skrull. Ugh. I didn't like the marriage either but I did like the Johnny/Alicia courtship phase of their relationship. Alicia was finally coming into her own and stopped being Ben's doormat and stopped being so nauseatingly perfect. Lyja as Alicia was more interesting than the real Alicia as a result of the retcon.

This was the one I liked the most. That said...IMO she's actually an evil bitch. She gladly volunteered to kill billions as Galactus's herald so she could see the stars and then she grew a conscience.

Doesn't she have kids with her husband?

(not sure I could see Johnny as a step-father)

I was always angry about this relationship. Namorita belongs with Nova.

I mean sure Rich kind of dated Laura Dunham on the side, had that thing with Gamora and Nita banged his best friend Bernie Dillon. But I loved their relationship.

These best Inhumans you speak of must not be in the royal family. Everyone in the royal family is a straight up jerk. Except maybe Triton and Lockjaw.

Lockjaw is most certainly the best Inhuman, and my issue with him is that I totally do not accept that he's a real dog. He's a person that all of the evil rat bastard Royals treat like a dog. And lastly, he's just such a weak-minded servile kind of guy that he just takes their abuse for centuries.

I like him more as a teleporting dog.

We need more super powered dogs like him and Cosmo. I kind of wish we would see what happens once the x-gene is found in non-humans.

I'd much rather accept him as a real dog.

Incidentally, some writers have given us peeks into his mind, and it's always portrayed as the mind of a dog. The Paul Jenkins maxi-series was very blatant about this.

It doesn't make much sense that dogs can be Terrigenized. If we open up that floodgate, then the current situation becomes the worst ecological disaster of all time, and we should be seeing a lot more Terrigenized fauna.

If you mean lesser animals, then it couldn't happen. The X-Gene is specific to Homo sapiens and other Celestial test subjects. But it should certainly occur in human offshoots, like Atlanteans and Inhumans.

Excellent point, which I doubt Marvel has considered. O\:\-\)

Someone should definitely write the origin of Lockjaw.
