Indeed, I noticed it too in an older message \:\-\)
https://www.comicboards.com/php/show.php?rpy=mub-2017100608163406

I don't understand why, if they wanted to include Blade in the cast, they didn't provide a reasoning behind it in the story itself.

Since Blade is currently the vampire hunting specialist, it would have been logical to include vampires as main antagonists in the story.

The problem of this story is that they included Blade on the roster of the team only because the comics fans know him, not because his power-set is adapted to the threat that they are facing.

It would have been very easy to resolve the problem by including vampires in the cast of antagonists.

It is true that, when Blade was a Midnight Son in the 1990s, the Nightstalkers used to fight other occult threats than vampires.
But it was at a time when Hannibal King had convinced Blade & Drake to work together as an occult detective agency ("Nightstalkers" was probably an homage to Kolchak the Night Stalker).
Also, back then, Dracula & the vampire masters were believed to have disappeared.

Since then, Dracula has returned and Blade has focused his energy & resources on his vampire crusade (considering that other people can fight against other kinds of occult threats, for example Doctor Strange, Brother Voodoo or Daimon Hellstrom).

I believe that's one of the problems with many writers nowadays. They don't spend enough time on the building of their intrigue and on the characterisation of characters.

And to not spend enough time on something important when your story is dragging on for six issues is almost criminal.
