They are claiming that Mar-Vell returns in this issue.

I am not believing it, and even if it IS him, he has been briefly revived and killed off again before.

1. Cosmic Powers Unlimited #1: briefly revived via the Reality gem by Thanos to test its power. They converse and Marv makes it clear he should be dead, that his time is up and he doesn't want to return. Thanos sends him back to the hereafter with the gem.

2. 90's Warlock miniseries, a villain named Syphonn used the nega bands to channel his power to reanimate Marv's skeletal corpse to attack until it could get the bands to Drax to control him. Genis eventually gets the bands and later his own series.

3. Chaos War: Dead Avengers, Death fled the universe and the dead returned. However he was "killed" again in the conflict and thus wasn't there for when Hercules restored everything.

4. Avengers vs X-men: the phoenix is routed to a kree base where they had taken Marv's body to. The phoenix revived Marv as it killed everyone else. Later to save the Kree, Marv confronts the Phoenix so it can reclaim its energies. His body soft landed on a planet and plant life began to grow on the world from residual phoenix power in him. He sure looked dead again, but unless they decide that he was still barely alive and the plant life was Cotati or something, and they brought him back to full health.....also in this story Marv did state he did not miss being alive. So he still preferred being dead.

Then there is Skrull-Vell who perished in Secret Invasion. It is more likely this is a restored Skrull-Vell or else they made another.

Or else Mar-Vell was time warped from past to present or from another alternate timeline and will have to return later.

However, there is one thing about this that offers a faint, and I do mean faint chance this is truly Mar-Vell restored: it was in issue #34 of his series where he fought Nitro and was exposed to the nerve gas that would later give him cancer.

This upcoming issue is #34.....and its almost 40 years since DoCM
