Subj: Silk #1: What grade do YOU give? Posted: Tue Apr 06, 2021 at 05:57:45 pm EDT (Viewed 148 times) | |||||
Silk 001 This restart was simple yet satisfying. The art was plain yet consistent - but no detraction from the panel flow. It's real nice that JJJ and Norah have a 2nd (3rd?) home for significant facetime. Plus, the new characters of Derick and Saya clearly have storyseeds in them. And, the intro of Fujinet and Cat-demon offer a fresh potential threats to the MU/NYC millieu. Cindy's banter and narration were fine, if low key, and gave her some vital premiere characterization. Her backstory in the Recap Page was arguably sufficient for new readers. Her dilemma about gratuities while not inspired, was still an engaging (ongoing?) element of the story. Silk's costume (design) from the neck up is still SO BLAH. But other than that subjective (problematic?) quibble, my only gripe from this story was when she underscored the hoodlum's quip: "AND MENACE". Okay, sure maybe she was deliberately mocking him for his criminal ways - but c'mon - that one-liner was brilliant! ![]() Sidebar: Has any writer comedically made a topical one-liner in any story with Silk (or other masked man) about a connection to wearing COVID masks, yet? This heroine would be perfect for that, eh. https://www.comixology.com/Silk-2021-1-of-5/digital-comic/911523 https://marvel.fandom.com/wiki/Silk_Vol_3_1 ![]() Support Cancer Research and Alzheimer Research and COVID Research.
