I have stopped comic collecting for a year or 2 and im a bit confused why the three main DCU heroes stopped talking to each other around the time of the infinite crisis mini series. Could someone please explain this to me?

It all happened in Sacrifice, which is collected in TPB. In short, Superman was mind controlled by Maxwell Lord, former head of the Justice League and now the Black King of Checkmate. Under his influence, he nearly killed Batman before Wonder Woman was able to stop him. Wonder Woman had to kill Maxwell Lord in order to prevent this from ever happening again. And all this was made possible because Lord stole a spy satellite Batman made to keep track of the world's superpowered population.

So Superman and Batman were upset at Wonder Woman for killing. Batman was upset at Superman for letting himself get taken over. Wonder Woman was upset at Batman for being so paranoid he made a spy satellite which turned against them. This distrust between the three climaxed and was resolved during Infinite Crisis.
