Isn't this from the modern redo of the classic "wife-beating" issue, where Superman just really, totally, unloads on a wife-beater? (i.e., not HIS hand on her throat in the second panel) TJB

Actually, I just reread most of the pos-crisis Superman and I can field this. I don't know the precice issue, but it's from the Dead Again storyline, wher Brainiac was driving Superman nuts by making everyone think he was an imposter and the real Superman was still dead. I think this is the issue where he thinks Mxyzptlk is behind everything and starts beating of the SCU thinking their his creations. > http://www.superdickery.com/dick/162.html > > Seriously. Sorry, it took me a few days to have a chance to dig out the issue. c-mccormack is correct. It is from the "Dead Again" storyline, specifically ACTION COMICS #705. Superman's going a bit crazy trying to find who is responsible for the body discoved in his tomb post-Lex's destruction of Metropolis. At this point, he believes Mr. Mxyzptlk to be responsible. The panel prior to the two posted there have Superman saying something to the effect of, "It's all fake. I could kill you and it wouldn't matter because it's all part of Mxy's game." omike015 :-| kandor.monkeylord.net (10.0.1.245) using Fortress Kryptonian Browsing Matrix v1.9.38 (0.19 points) |
