Superman-related news and notes for the week of July 24, 2009 (plus two days): Two days late, hoping to catch some news from ComicCon. Now a lot of big Superman news (shocker, I know), though "Smallville" dropped some bombs (no, not the last four seasons -- check the Smallville Board for more on the news). Uh, what else? Oh! October solicits are out, plus the standard previews, etc. Diving in...
DC's The Source blog has posted a preview of JUSTICE SOCIETY OF AMERICA #29, which is the first issue with the new creative team of Bill Willingham, Matthew Sturges and Jesus Merino. They've also got a preview of THE LAST DAYS OF ANIMAL MAN #3, which sees Superman and Power Girl in guest-appearances. And while we're getting early peeks, don't forget the preview of the Superman-less SUPERMAN #690 and preview of JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA #35. All four books are out this week.
DC's October 2009 solicitations have been released. Apologies (or your welcomes?) for not posting them as normal. The highlight of the listings is the official announcment that SHOWCASE PRESENTS: DC COMICS PRESENTS -- SUPERMAN TEAM-UPS Vol. 1 will be out in November. It will collect the first 26 issues of the title. I'm very excited about this!
The third strip from the Superman feature in WEDNESDAY COMICS is up at USA Today.
The poster for "Jonah Hex" starring Josh Brolin and Megan Fox's boobies has been released. How's that Superman-related? It isn't. Also not Superman-related is the fact that former All-Star Superman editor Bob Schreck has been hired by IDW after he was layed off by DC some months ago. Congrats Bob on the new position and congrats IDW for picking up a talented editor.
As announced a while back, SUPERMAN: RED SON is being translated into a "motion comic." The first chapter is up for free on iTUnes for a limited time. Grab it while it's cheap!
