![]() Superman-related news and notes for the week of August 7, 2009: Back after a week's absence due to mine forgetfulness. ----- The biggest news of the week is that, as I mentioned earlier, the Ruby-Spears Superman series is finally coming to DVD in November! -- Warner Bros. has also announced they will release "Superman: The Complete Animated Series" in November. The seven-disc set will contain all 54 episodes of "Superman: The Animated Series," as well as commentaries and other bonus items. -- CBR talked with Matt Sturges about the upcoming new JSA title, JSA ALL-STARS. The leaders of this new team, which as I understand it will feature the younger members of the current Justice Society roster, will be Power Girl and Magog. Nrama: What's the dynamic going to be between Power Girl and Magog as leaders of the team? Those are two pretty head-strong leaders, aren't they?More at the link. -- The fourth and fifth Superman strips from WEDNESDAY COMICS are up at USA Today's Web site. They've also got an interview with Lee Bermejo, who is handling the art duties on the strip. Q: In a relatively young career, you've already had the rare opportunity to provide your artistic interpretation of some of the most iconic characters in the comic-book world —Superman, Batman, and the Joker. Did you intentionally seek out these characters or did the opportunities just find their way to you?More at the link. -- Sterling Gates talks with Newsrama about what's going on with Supergirl, both the character and the book as well as what's on the road ahead. It is a good interview. Check it out. -- DC's The Source blog posted the cover art for ADVENTURE COMICS #4 featuring a certain fanboy analogue that has plagued DC in the last few years. -- THe blog has also posted a preview of Guillem March's variant cover for POWER GIRL #6. T&A fans take note, there's a whole lotta the latter to behold there. Unusual for a character who typically specializes on the former. -- DC's sales for June 2009 are out. Like May, June sees the Superman books floundering around the 40k mark. July's will no doubt see them all dip below it. -- More CCI news roundups: - CBR's report on the DC Universe Animated panel and another report on the same panel - CRB's report on the DC Universe Online MMRPG panel omike015 ![]() | |||
