Who on these boards has been picking up the current series of Superboy? I have, and I have to be honest, it's not winning me over. Those of you reading the current Superboy series; will you get the DCNu Superboy series, written by Scott Lobdell? I will, and I'm actually really looking forward to it. The current series just feels off to me. It's nicely placed by the mystery and strangeness don't seem to gel with Connor, especially in Smallville. So I'm looking forward to seeing what the Nu Superboy can offer.

The current series is fine, i really like the production and the coloring especially has been very noteworthy. Where this book has suffered is that the momentum of the main Smallville plot has been badly disrupted by the Kid Flash race and Reign of Doomsday crossovers which were imposed and distracted from what the book is actually trying to do. If you read the first four issues there is a very definite arc developing and the feel is very much a Twin Peaks one, this is helped by some very clever coloring which gives the world of Smallville two seperate pallettes - one bright & sweet, the other sombre and threatening. This is not to say it's absolutely brilliant, just that the flow of it has been ruined by editorial intervention and to make it worse I'm pretty sure the writer has had to rewrite stuff to bring everything to a close for the September purges... And that's just one more example why I've gradually become deeply cynical about Superman editorial. I've enjoyed the book overall, we're only eight issues in with two of them being editorially mandated, but it's been a worthwhile format and as i say there's been a lot of thought put into the plotting and color/art design, it genuinly impressed me as I expected little from a Smallville setting. As to the 'New' Superboy, I really couldn't care less. DC are sending out solicits with apparently two conflicting versions of the character but the description doesn't sell me on it and I won't be touching it. Supergirl I will give an issue or two to hook me, it sounds like it might be interesting, but Superboy is dead on arrival to me.

How did the Kid Flash race go? I heard that Superboy came in third. Did he give a good performance nevertheless, or did he eat Kid Flash's dust? Any scans, Davey? If so, could you post them? I'd love to check them out. Thanks. _rc

It's another odd one for Superboy as I would never have seen him as a match for Bart, there is no evidence to support it, but on the other hand it may be Bart was letting him win, it was for charity after all.

Checked out your website ... An endorsement from a DC employee, shill, whatever? Bit dodgy, in my opinion, if that's what you are. _rc

I've been giving it a chance. It's not really doing anything for me either. I figure with everything being on the "short timers" list, everything will be hastily wrapped up. Don;t look for quality in anything. From the pictures i have seen, the new Superboy looks like some Goth Punk Twink! I'm not impressed!

Superboy is one of my favorite characters so I read almost anything he is in. I have liked the new series. But I am also interested in the new title when it is revamped. i am glad Conner isn't going anywhere. Best -IDAHO-

Well, I guess I'm flattered that you would think I am employed by DC. In reality I am a nobody who is just running that site for fun.
