Now i have heard everything. Superman depressed!?!
What was it that Jor-El said in Superman The Movie, to paraphrase," They have great potential, but lack the light to show them the way."
After reading this little blurb, sure why not, GIVE UP!!!
BTW, who is writing this trash? Answer: JM Stracynski!
Let's see, Supes gave up his American citizenship. Now he is giving up Superman altogether. Hmm, well, why not give the suit and cape to the idiot in the white house! 3 strikes and you are out of here!!!!
If i were so inclined to be all excited about the DCnU, this would turn me OFF completely. Why would i want to read such depressing material. Where's the gun at? Referencing another Richard Donner movie, " Put it in your mouth!"

I wonder, what next? Wonder woman running a house of ill-repute!
Batman secretly embezzling money or stealing from the rich and saying he will give to the poor, but not doing it?

Remember when Jeph Loeb wrote those issues where Superman was seeing a psychiatrist? Fun times.

Actually, i vaguely remember them. Was this after he killed the three Kryptonian villains in the pocket universe? Of course, this was before zero hour and before his death.
I don;t remember any occurence in the recent past though.
Suffice to say, if Supes has a mental disorder, not much of a hero then is he? Not ,much of a man. Give him a valium or some other drug and let him space out. Yeah, that would be the right image to portray of a superman!!!

I get what you mean but you should be careful with the words you use here. Not much of a hero or a man because someone has mental disorder? It's no pic-nic to suffer from mental disorder and overcoming that surely is heroic in my POV. But I get what you intended to say.

To one an all, i stand corrected. Thank you for pointing that out.
How about: Not much of a super hero alien from another planet who professes to be a superman with powers and abilities far beyond human kind.
Being a man, coping and dealing with every day life is far more challenging than being able to do it all and not having the guts to stand up to the challenge.
Step aside supes. you are not needed!

It was in 2002, post-"Our Worlds at War," and had nothing to do with the execution of the Phantom Zone villains.

I would have liked to have done a review of the issue but there was nothing in it worth my time and energy commenting on really. I have liked much of Chris Robertson's work here but at this stage it has become painfully transparent he isn't the one controlling the book, he's just a typist basically.
Based on the reveals of the September relaunch It certainly looks to me as if DC very intentionally sand-barred Superman this last year or three, there is no other interpretation to my mind, and I think that is reprehensible not only as a committed reader but as a consumer shelling out money and putting my faith in the company to deliver the best product they can.
Right now the best Superman book as ever is the always dependable Supergirl. Always consistent in its quality despite the best attempts by DC to similarly sabotage her with that old kiss-of-death tactic - musical chair creative teams. Which (pleasingly) hasn't worked in her case....

He did a great job of ruining Spider-man who I thought was the best superhero ever. He'd been on the book for years and obviously wasn't a fit, so he and the powers that be over there decided to just kamikaze that thing into the ground. They promised readers everything. I mean, everything. They even promised Aunt May would die (again) despite the fact that she had already had a good death. They refused to pay off (in my opinion) any of those promises and I think the book is terrible because of it. Only if you have never read Spider-man before could you really enjoy it. He and the Marvel powers told fans they had everything for them. They actually hyped up a story where everyone in the world found out who Spider-man was in those two years. It was nothing. A few pages here and there and it was an abysmal joke. New powers. New Costume. Spider-man does whatever the big event wants him to do and loses his identity as a character. It was the worst thing I'd ever read in a Marvel comic.
Then DC hires him to work on THEIR biggest hero. HOw do you get hired based on the material he put out in those last two years?
I can only imagine the magic he's been doing on Superman.
Still angry? yes.
